It is a shame, but we can't blame him for going, the club cannot provide the ambition he is striving for.
For however long he stays at Bayern, he will be successful, staying at spurs finishing 6th-8th isn't for everyone.
Not sure about that already has championship experience and is highly rated, plus we have a manager who will use the younger players.

It’s hard to get behind your team making signings of highly rated young players. I feel no emotion at all when my club does this.
Unfortunately city sign Gvardiol, we can't agree a fee for Tapsoba, we are in a different pool to these clubs.
This signing might turn out to be ok, but we might not see the best of him for 3/4 years yet.
They didn't miss this, everything was done last week, medical and media stuff, and the news was leaked back then. We've had to wait a week for the official announcement because of the silly games Blackburn decided to play
Same with VdV. He came over to the training ground over a month ago, met with Ange, had a tour of the facilities and agreed personal terms. But we've had to wait all tnis time for the deal to be completely agreed with Woldsburg

You don't rip up players contracts. The best case is you pay them the remainder of what you're contracted to pay them. I doubt any player takes less than that unless they know they're walking into a new club. I suspect the very best we can do is terminate their registration with the club and carry on paying them until they get picked up by a new club.
But realistically, if we're not getting a fee, and we're still paying their wages, we're better off just not giving them a squad place but keeping the registration.

Phillips seems to be similar to MvdV. I’d expect that other cb signing, if there is one, to be more like Romero… a more aggressive assertive CB.
I also see a way to attack our défense. We have one cat and one dog. Attack the side with the cat in the half space. For our starting 11 that is the side with MvdV. Encourage MvdV to come out to win that ball and then play the ball in the space in behind. Even more effective if Porro is playing.
