Selling your best players is what West Ham always did when I began following Spurs.

The cumulative effect of what Sugar and ENIC have done to this club has reduced Spurs to that level.

No trophies, no ambition; always sell the best players.

Rinse and repeat.

Our biggest issue in recent years is not being able to sell players.

It's our biggest problem this window as well.

If I was getting on about Levy it would be because Davinson, Reguillon, Tanganga, Hojberg, Lloris, Perisic, Tanguy/Gio(depending on which one stays), are all still here with the season about to start.

The cynic in me knows that the bald one can use the lack of outgoings as an excuse not to invest in the incomings.

Utd sold Ronaldo
Chelsea sold Hazard
Woolwich Sanchez
Liverpool Coutinho

etc...

So you think we ought not play Kane if he's still here come the Brentford match? I think Perisic played with a lot of enthusiasm in the friendly matches so far, ditto GLC.

I don't see Hugo playing against Brentford, he might get a chnace tomorrow as a sort of fairwell cameo.

I do see your point it's just that I don't agree with it.
I hope for everybody's sake that Kane isn't here for the match. Yes he should play because he's shown himself to be professional over a long period of time, we know he loves the club. I can't say the same for Perisic or GLC or many others. But it can easily go wrong for Kane if he doesn't perform, people will say that his head is elsewhere.

I disagree - this is exceptional circumstances in terms of contract expiry and his age. The root cause and more fundamental issue is why he wants to leave it

Oh right if we win trophies then it's okay to sell our best players, cool.
That is correct.

Man City sold Jesus when they had won stuff and bought Haaland.

Spurs also used to do this.

We sold Archibald and bought Clive Allen.

It's been a while since we behaved like a big club so I am not surprised that you have 'forgotten' how it's done.

We're now selling the club's best ever striker and replacing him with a man who dances like a pigeon.

Who do you expect the club to replace him with now and if not now then next season?

Kane has already reportedly stated that if he's still here come the Brentford match he won't be leaving.

IDK the outcomes of conversations that have gone on between GLC and Ange, whether he's now happy to stay at Spurs or not. If not then I don't see him playing vs Brentford.

As for Perisic, he's a seasoned pro, he has a fine attitude when playing, he's been really good in the two friendly matches, I don't think he'll be dragging his heels.

Spurs is a football club; not a shop.

Harry Kane is a great footballer; not a product.

Certainly is and allowing a great footballer like Kane to walk for free next summer, after disrupting the entire team for a season of rumours about his future, would be the worst thing Levy could do for this football club.

I get people want to bash Levy but this isn't even a difficult decision.

Now, if we want to talk about Levy, the capitalist in chief, failing to capitalize on Kane being at the club for the previous 6 seasons as a world-class striker, then we are agreed. He certainly capitalized on the CL football that Kane helped bring to the football club by building up ENIC's real estate portfolio.

It's Levy's fault Kane is going but it's the right decision to sell him.
