Sounds like VDV is done.

I’m quite zen for the upcoming season tbh. I’m certainly not as confident as some but I am excited to watch us which is a better state than we’ve been in for a while.

Truth is I have very little idea how it’ll go because I’ve not seen quite a few of these players play. I feel like this goes for most of the forum.

Fair post. I agree.

I wouldn’t say that I’m confident about how well we will do in terms of where we finish etc.

I am confident that at the minimum we’ll be much more watchable and exciting. I’m really looking forward to our games now.

Can’t say I’ve felt that way for the last few years 😭

Keeping it real, we have enough of that shit in real life...football is supposed to be the escape from that...

Then, why are we supporting Spurs???

The way Ange has been forcing Davies to play LCB, I think he’d want another left footed player to back up Mickey.

Davies is an 'ok' left back - better than an ever injured Sessegnon and a better defender than Perisic although not as good an attacker. I noticed yesterday that the captain's arm band was passed to him after 80 mins yesterday, suggesting Ange trusts him.

Davies also counts as HG and if we assume we are not keeping Sessegnon and maybe not Spence, I think we likely have a shortage of HG players, so unless we buy an HG player or two in any position, I think we need to keep Davies as back up LB this season.

We've certainly been in contact with Genk & Orban. How advanced we are and if it depends on Kane leaving I really don't know. But I struggle to see us bringing him in without Harry leaving. I imagine as others have stated, we are trying to line up a few deals and if we are successful, we then may accept the bid.

I was responding to a question about bringing in another CB after VdV. Nothing to do with Davies himself.

Merely speculating that since Ange is forcing Davies into a LCB right now, that being left footed is a crucial attribute he wants in that position. Since VdV now gives us one left footed CB, and because Dier is refusing to leave, I'm guessing if we bring in another CB he will also be left footed.

One thing that will become clear in the coming weeks is how much rotation and substitution the squad will need to keep up the intensity of Ange’s high press and attacking system.

I expect Veliz and Orban will be used as attacking subs regularly, this isn’t Poch/Conte where a “substitution” is one of those funny English words that they don’t know how to pronounce.

Similarly I think Gio will be a big time impact sub as will Perisic if he stays.

I just popped over to SC and apparently they’ve pushed all their chips in on the Kane transfer being done last Friday, we’ve got confirmations from Trix, Herc and even the Goat lol…

Never wanted him to stay this bad until now.

So just says something that's been confirmed elsewhere then gives he's opinion 😂

Better if we can get a CB who can play as both LCB and RCB as Dier only has one year left on his contract so we will need cover for Romero in a years time.

I did wonder if we could get a loan for Tanganga who can play LCB, RCB and at a pinch both FB positions and is quite aggressive in his play (which is one aspect Ange likes in his CB's). He's only played about 40 games in 5 seasons (but never a run of games) and certainly needs more experience, but it maybe that his time at Spurs is now done (thanks Conte and Mourhino for letting him stagnate when a loan was required) with both Dorrington and Phillips likely to come through in next couple of years.
