To further expand on my point that us with Kane is more optimistic than without.

With Kane, in a system that generates 30 shots at goal a game, he's going to score another 30+ goals. That is good for him and it's good for us.
If our defence is finally sorted, we'll score more and concede less.
If we score more and concede less, we will do better. Maybe top 4 better. With no Europe, we can put strong sides out in the domestic cups too.
Top 4 and a cup isn't totally out of the question if Ange is the real deal.
I have no doubt that if that happened, Kane would rather sign a new contract with Spurs and finish his career here than leave for some one he has no affinity with.
I also believe the positivity around THFC with Kane in the side elevates everyone bar maybe Richarlison.

You take him out and we start strggling to put those chances away amd watch it turn negative quickly.
30 shots yesterday, 20 on target and Kane scored 80% of our goals. Son, 80 minutes, nothing. Kulu, 90 minutes couple? of assists no goals. No one other than Kane really looked like scoring until Devine hits an unstoppable shot.

People keep saying "what about the £100m
A) Bayern haven't offered us £100m. At best they've offered £100m over x amount of years and subject to criteria being met. Maybe that's worth less to us in the next year or two than Kane smashing another 30+ goals in?

If there was a 22-23 year old proven goal machine ready and willing to sign for us, then maybe take the money and replace. But there isn't.
CL qualification isn't the main problem, it's the lack of the trophies which is the main problem in him signing a new deal.

The Brennan Jonhson stuff us weird!

We already have Kane, Son, Richrlison, Soloman, Kulusevski, Veliz AND Perisic for those front 3 positions.

one game a week.

Honestly, there's no room for him - all for offloading Rodon and Spence to Forest.
It's not that weird, he's going to be Kulu's backup, Solomon is going to be Son's backup, and Perisic will go back to Hajduk.

I just popped over to SC and apparently they’ve pushed all their chips in on the Kane transfer being done last Friday, we’ve got confirmations from Trix, Herc and even the Goat lol…

The mid-range contract makes zero sense though, at least for Kane. He would basically eliminate any leverage he currently has. Sure he'd get a bump in pay but enough to offset a potential huge signing on bonus as a free agent and the excessive wages that other clubs would offer to bring him on board? He can evaluate Ange and the club with or without a new contract with the club. The greatest leverage that he has is that the sand is running out, and he's not going to spoil that so the club can recoup something for him even if its a minimal amount.

There are only two realistic options if we don't sell him by the Brentford game; he leaves on a free next year or he signs a massive new contract.
No

He could sign a contract with a fair release clause should we fail to get CL

competition for Kulu I guess, right now there's no real pressure on his position apart from porro who isnt really a wide forward. Better if it was someone who can opperate comfortably on the right or the left though

I think you may be going a bit overboard here in order to lock in your "sell him" stance.

"He's wearing the wrong boots next season"😂😂😂
Not really. Adidas didn't make basketball shoes for years. In their first forays into the sport, there was a statistically relevant increase in lower leg injuries for players who wore Adidas. They recovered to improve their product for the sport - but not until after using a generation of athletes as live R&D testers.

The demands footballers place on a boot differ from those of runners. Particularly as a 31 year old with a history of ankle issues, there's no way you'd get me signing a lifetime contract with a neophyte in the football boot market. This is a serious increase of injury risk.

I agree about keeping Kane.

Scarlett scored the goal though and your jabs at Son and Kulu are pointless.

Scarlett replaced Kane for the end of the game and scored. It means the system works. Kane elevates it but his replacement would get goals too.

It would have helped if we played more football without Kane, against half useful opposition, to test this theory.
So far he's played half a game against Spam and we scored 2 after he went off. Half a game against a pub team where Richarlison scored 3 and the team 4 without hi, and yesterday, where he got 4 of our goals.
Unfortunately, i can't take too much from any of these pre-season games. It's been a bit of a clusterfuck beyond the coach and teams control. I would have liked us to play 3-5 more games and some of them against half decent opposition. The best team we played was a nearly relegated Spam and we lost.

not sure sure I would take the gamble that we'll be fine without Kane by selling him now.

No but a trophy and a return to the CL would suggest we're back on track.

Wait.... We're talking about Saudis all of a sudden????

The LC is piss, but the Saudi league is worth winning?

.......Surely you acknowledge a potential move for Kane would be about silverwear; not early retirement in a poxy desert????
Are you being intentionally obtuse? You're better than that. The Saudis own Newcastle and Chelsea - they offer him a gold statue of himself to sign for either of their PL clubs.

I don't think its a given H won't sign a new deal.

If I were Levy I'd encourage him to sign a new one year deal - add 100% to his wages for 23/24 and a buy out clause for say £80m to be exercised from 15 May 2024 to 15 July 2024.

That ensures Harry gets an extra £10m for next season (more than his current contract pays) but we get a buy out at the end so we can plan for 25/26

That does NOT stop him from negotiating in January - but tbh, he'd be a fool to sign a contract than. Plenty of time to do it next summer. Also allows him a year to see if Ange football is for him or not and allows us to buy a couple more players this summer to help.

If he stays and we get in an extra CB after Van der Ven plus maybe one other player I'd fancy our chances to get 3rd through to 5th place in PL. Sure its a gamble, but its a sensible gamble
So, factoring in net costs then, you put yourself in a position where you gain £70M for him next summer (buyout minus salary increase) and delay rebuilding post Kane a season . Meanwhile, Angi spends a season adapting his tactics to suit a player the likes of which we can't (no one can) replace only to come back next season and ask the manager and squad to now readapt around the Kane size hole.

He's going. Rip the bandaid off and move on. Better now, before Angi starts work in earnest, than after a weird halfway house season.

Edit: also, in your scenario, he almost certainly moves to a direct competitor still. Moving him to Germany now for ≈£100M is by far the best option for Spurs.
