Bayern are trying to do a Levy... On Levy.
Trying to bully him into selling our Harry... It won't happen unless Levy wants it to happen.
I'm still hopeful if we get Tapsoba and Orban, and get a good run in the league. Harry will stay... And that might be Levys mentality too.

When is VDV and Veliz being announced officially?

Hopefully before tomorrows match so that they can be involved.

Wasn't Maddison announced at 9pm so still time today.

Excited Season 5 GIF by The Office

We've certainly been in contact with Genk & Orban. How advanced we are and if it depends on Kane leaving I really don't know. But I struggle to see us bringing him in without Harry leaving. I imagine as others have stated, we are trying to line up a few deals and if we are successful, we then may accept the bid.”

No wonder there hasn’t been any progress on Orban if we are talking to Genk. He’s plays for Gent.

The people at Genk must be very confused

If Kane is sold Spurs become just another team.

Forget about competing with Woolwich, Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool.

We will fall further behind the likes of Toon and Villa never mind the serious clubs.

West Ham will be the derby game.

Let’s say that’s true. Next season he leaves for free and we become ‘’just another team’’. I would love for him to stay, sign a deal but it’s unlikely.

This club isn’t suited to big players like Kane or Bale, rather than build something with them to win things we just act lazy and let them do everything. Pochettino (yes I know he went Chavs!) was our most successful recent manager by building a team not relying on one guy.

Give Ange time, back him with the players he needs for his system and we might do very well. If the club keeps Kane we should buy Silva or Tapsoba not wait till Kane is sold to get the money.

The days of one man teams winning things are gone. We need to build an elite team, Kane staying or going doesn’t change that. We need to show ambition, had we done that Kane might have signed a new deal anyway.

1 - Chance but certainly not a guarantee. We haven't bought a have a manager from Australia -> Japan -> Scotland who has never even coached in the PL, and we finished 8th last season with Kane. To qualify for the CL we'll need to be better than at least 2 of United, Woolwich, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle. I'd say even with Kane its more likely than not that we don't qualify for the CL.

2 - Players would be "bedding in" to a system/style that's different from the way in which we'd be playing next season, so then it's another trial next year on whether or not the players can adapt/are suited to the new squad.

I understand people want Kane to stay. I WANT him to spend his entire career at Tottenham. But he's pretty plainly signaled he doesn't want to. He gave an interview about wanting to play at City, then went on strike to try and force a City move, then pouted for 6 months that he didn't get to move to City. When it became clear that City were going for Haaland and that chance was gone, he then lumped it and moved on - for a time. It seemed before this summer that he was happy to run down his contract and move on a free.

Bayern came in and have apparently offered him something he's happy to take to move there instead. If we don't make it work, he's leaving on a free next summer. He's been offered new contracts with increased wages and turned them down. Harry Kane will not play for Tottenham in 2024-25, period. All arguments for how we should deal with this situation that try to leave that door open, are simply grounded in a wishful fallacy.

Your argument in (1) just doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

Spurs team seemed to give up any sense of enjoyment under Conte particularly after the World Cup, so the reason for him leaving was 'losing the dressing room'

Any sense of coherent attacking or forward play disintegrated under Conte and left a mal functioning squad which wasn't built to defend or attack, and the points per game fell away into relegation form.

Conte demonstrated the impossible - it really is possible to get a team of players whose performance is a long way worse than the sum of its parts, by for example re-positioning the Golden boot winner from the previous season into a position from which his scoring went down the pan etc. Pretty much every player was playing worse last season under Conte than they ever had.

And that's why they finished 8th - a total change from end of 21/22 where we finished 4th.

All the vibes are the players are enjoying life under Ange - and showing that by creating 30+ chances per game, and whilst that chance creation will reduce against PL opponents it isn't going to go back to a system where there are only half a dozen chances created per game which we are dependent on Kane or others to convert.

So its GUARANTEED that Spurs will be scoring more goals than last season, using multiple players to score. And for the most part only playing one game a week as we are not in europe, so we will be finishing a whole lot higher than 8th - probably 3rd to 5th next season, particularly if we land another top CB this summer to help reduce goals conceded. And the other teams do not worry me - Man City will probably win but I'd certainly fancy our chances of finishing above 1 or 2 from ManU, Liverpool, Woolwich and Chelsea.

We need to build an elite team so we sell the only elite player we have?

If the 'project' we now have is going in the right direction Kane would want to stay next summer if we pay him properly?

The only winner from the sale of Kane is Levy.

Any incoming bunce means he can hold back on next years transfer kitty.

Spurs season ticket holders are being mugged off.

They are being asked to pay elite level ticket prices while being presented with a team that deteriorates in proven standard season upon season.

Could be worse.
You could be an Inter fan or she could be Woolwich.
Have an old mate who married Woolwich. Of course, they divorced but she had greater influence on the kids. Fancy having to watch your son parade around in a Woolwich shirt.
Spaniel Spaniel has clearly done this all wrong. My partner of 12 years is from Milan from a family of Inter supporters...she's fully COYS now. Cried when we beat Ajax. It's like you have slowly indoctrinate them. Started by explaining to her how my dad sold me on Greaves and then about the glamour of mono cultural 70s England suddenly going colour with Ricky and Ossie. It then oddly happened (by chance) she started teaching free acting classes in Tottenham for the local kids in the shadow of the ground and she's fully under. If we broke up I think she'd still be Spurs. Go to say that hole Tubby Kane Demble Eriksen Dele swaggering side really helped cement it on her. Oh and Son she just adores him.

Excellent post.

Conte said he wanted our players to be brave on the ball. But if they dared get their heads up, often the only options were Sonny & Deki dropping deep to receive the ball with their back to goal, & inevitably lose it. So we endlessly coughed the ball up & our players became scared, timid.

Ange says he wants our players to be brave on the ball, and not hoof it like PEH did that one time on Sunday. Because now when our players get their heads up there is movement, structured runs, attacking options. Attacking patterns they work on in training.

This is part of the cultural change & the mentality that Ange is trying to build.

Btw this "Ange Postecoglou alé!" chant th at CarrieFi CarrieFi posted, & his reaction, is spectacular.

I don’t agree on your takes about the decision to sell …

BUT

We are much better team with him this season.

Maddison feeding Kane. 1 game per week and the cups…
New CBs.
Bissouma unleashed.
Son healthy again.

Trying to temper my hopes on what this team could do with Ange.

This is the real Hotspur88 trying to tell us something. Hidden signals. The most honest he's ever been.

Methinks he's tied up in Rob or A&C's basement forced to write ITK until they get enough poor suckers to fund their summer holidays.
He’s the most obvious fraud of them all. He gets super defensive whenever he feels like someone thinks that he isn’t reliable and has a meltdown.

Job well done sir , take a bow !

If it came to it.... Would you spend £70m on Toney who will score goals but never be as prolific as Harry... Or £25m on Orban who has the potential to be as good but is not the finished article?

I still think we should walk away from negotiations, Levy is making a clear statement that he is prepared to keep Kane and let him walk away for nothing. That means we don't really need Bayern's money and should get get the Tapsoda and any other deals done.
Harry holds the strongest hand and is quite content to stick and see how it plays out. Levy is not stupid enough to show his hand by folding thereby blocking any move and alienating H even further.

If it doesn't go through Levy will apologise and maintain Bayern were not willing to stump up the (whatever it may be) asking price or go anywhere near it.

With the usual bluster and bullshit that pervades the air during these types of negotiations it often difficult to discern who is telling porkies and who isn't.
