Agreed, it hinges on Kane staying, us getting another CB and clearing out some deadwood, if we do that I would say that's a pretty damn good window.

Still can't get my head around Kane staying.

the logic hasn't changed because he scored 4 goals in a friendly and he feels at home here.

Still think him staying without a contract extension is a crazy move. But then again, if were signing a world class player on a 1 year loan with a 100m loan fee. i'd think it was mental but still excited and see it as ambition.

Agreed, my hope is that Kane will likely sign a short term extension so the club can still get money for him if he isn't satisfied by the end of the season.

Best case scenario is obviously Ange exceeds expectations and we win silverware of some sort or Kane feels the club is heading in the right direction so much so he wants to sign another long term deal.

Anything can happen at this point but I feel if we lost Kane now it would mean big trouble for us tbh.

It would be a bit careless to bin off Tanganga when he's never actually played a full season or had a consistent run of matches, wouldn't be surprised if the club wanna keep him around, he came though the academy and he's homegrown after all, let's see what he does at Inter if he goes there.

He's the new CCV...... HG so reluctant to lose...... Will go out on loan until he shows his true level and either gets brought back into the fold or sold.

I feel for the lad.

See, I didn't think that before the Shakhtar game and still don't think that now.

Yes he scored goals but the system created those goals and you would fancy most strikers to finish those chances.

Not saying I don't want him to stay but no fear of him going tbh

But this time it might be serious.

He (and club) must he pissed off at never playing and holding back his career.

Oddly his style of play might suit Ange the most of recent managers - he's fairly aggressive and not slow on ball either. Just totally lacks anything like enough experience
This might sound harsh, but I feel like not playing is enhancing his reputation much more than him actually playing would...

He seems a nice lad, and I'd like to be wrong about him.

No- he’s been consistently briefed by Kane’s team throughout this summer.

Strong agree.

Anything limiting minutes for Udogie and I'm out.

I doubt it would. We are a big club, VDV and Laporte can fight for the LCB role and cover each other. Any player not willing to fight for their spot shouldn’t be at a club like ours.

If Laporte isn’t good enough and VDV is too strong then oh well, but when VDV gets injured we know we will have a half decent player coming in. Same for Udogie for that matter, if Ange thinks he is good enough he will play him.

Our Injuries are often crippling, we need at least 2 good players per position. At CB we don’t have that.

It's going to be a big jump for VdV into the PL and Ange will probably keep it simple for him.

With his speed being his biggest asset right now, I see him playing that sweeper role. He'll probably be the last defender and try to stifle counter attacks. Slow them down or draw them out until we can get numbers back.

Putting him at LB doesn't help the team or his development.

We have already counted both spends in previous window budgets

Nggghh...... This matter grinds my gears...

The fact is; there's no right answer given the way fans want to view these things. (The club 100% will view it differently; as a matter of cash flow vs foretasted budget.)

The fact is accounting-wise; every transaction comes in two parts..... The commitment to buy and the corresponding outgoing cash...... The cash part is in fact then often paid in installments which muddies the water further.

Kulu - Technically; both elements of his fall into this summer; but in practical terms one could argue he's been here for 18 months already (notably we've already paid a loan fee too; just to keep it all nice and muddy!).

Porro - Techically; commitment to buy; this season.... Practically signed in Jan. Cash commitment kicks in now.

Personally, I choose to think on the basis of what window they were brought in; but sites like TFM choose to do the opposite so whenever people grab for figures on the internet they would need to re-calc (and most of the time they're too lazy)
