I actually still think he could have done a job for us under Conte, but definitely not in a million years under Ange - he doesn't have a footballer's brain. Conte just needed robots with the right physical attributes (well theoretically anyway). How wonderful that our new set-up actually needs footballers rather than robots, wherever we finish this season the football is going to be such a breath of fresh air. :)

Schuurs is average. He's a good rotation option, but nothing more. He's like Tomiyasu for the scum.
My issue with him is the pace. Barcelona gave me fucking nightmares. We are going to need players who excel at running back to goal, defending in transition, tacking from angles, containing wingers on the run.

Tapsoba moves like a DM or FB that’s why I wanted him so bad for the system. Schuurs does look handy yes but he moves like most 6’4” CBs move. I’m not too convinced.

Still well about 33 players in the squad so still need to move some on, as much to free up wages budgets (and many loans do not include full payment of wages). Plsyers who could move on include :

Lloris - rumours of negotiations with Lazio on a free transfer ( might need to top up wages for last year of his contract)
Hojbjerg - Rumours he wants out but Atletico are under bidding
Ndombele - Love the Galatasaray rumours to be true
Reguilon - ?
Sanchez - Rumoured to want to move on with a few interested clubs. I suspect move finalised when we announce new incoming CB
Sessegnon -Operation so unsure if h can be moved even on loan
Gil - As Sessegnon
Perisic - Rumours of a return to Croatia, but who pays his final year wages ? Could give us assists but might depend on incomings.

After that its probably all about numbers in the squad, with Tanganga and Spence possibly being added to list.

And the big unknown is who else is coming in - and I suspect the earliest arrival might be next week ? Maybe 3 ish including CB, creative midfielder and forward/striker - issue will be to find decent quality as we are not short of numbers in the squad.

As a club, we can't be penny pinching at a time like this with the Kane money coming in.

If we lose out on Tapsoba due to price, that would be hard to swallow.

Up until a point (so long as we're not approaching paying 100m of for a 50m player), then I agree with you..... If Tapsoba was previously considered not affordable then seize the moment where upon for a short while he can be deemed affordable.

Fuck trying to buy 'The Beatles'.... In modern terms, 100m isn't actually that much money.

At this point, we need to act like a big club and tell every single player we don't want to find a new club or face total exclusion from football.

That is exactly what the others do.
We on the other hand will pull out of purchasing upgrades and give the useless flanges a squad space.

💯 Big clubs are able and willing to take losses in players that no longer add value to the club. Real Madrid quite frequently send away a player with multiple years left in his contract away on a free transfer if that player doesn’t fit their needs any more and no one is willing to pay for a transfer. They consider their investment a sunk cost and move on.

Manchester United were interested recently according to Romano.

Issue with Tapsoba is price, different from Schuurs who is reasonably priced but hasn't been picked up anyway.

There's a few CB's that want to move - Victor Nelsson for example rumoured to be available for circa 25m (similar to Schuurs) so I would guess its a question of listing them in order of how closely they meet Ange criteria, likely price ..... and then trying to get another CB in who actively wants to come (Tapsoba with 3 years left on contract doesn't have much of a say - and both Bayern and ManU are known to have backed away on price).

Yet no-one knows how much that price is.
