Sorry, Airfixx, just to be clear if you are saying that I'm ignoring the most pertinent part directly below?

Seems like no-one is any wiser, and whether we will bring in any more players is anyone's guess at this point. Le Parisien mentioned Ange saying we'll be bringing in 2 or 3 more, but I've not seen Ange's comments on this - certainly not in recent days, though I do recall him mentioning it before the Veliz and VdV deals. My take is that I can see Levy deciding not to bring in any more players this window unless he sees a bargain and until he trims the squad. I would be more than glad if the club does spend on more useful additions before the window closes.

(No disrespect intended; but I'm not really interested in what people predict Levy might or might not do.....)

You ignored this bit from the tweet you reacted to:

"Though that's not to say there won't be further incomings during this summer transfer window."

Which directly ties into the FACT that Ange said he still wanted 2/3 more players and all the corresponding chatter either side of that comment from so-called 'sources'.

The basic fact is that The Athletic won't know how much we have or don't have to spend........ But you honed in on that and ignored the rest cos of Levy 'vibes'.

expect a club like Spurs not to fully back him
Fully back?
I ask myself what does this even mean.
Surely it’s going to vary from club to club.
Unless it means give the manager everything that he wants in which case probably no manager (not even Pep) is fully backed.
Surely, the parameters and expectations are set and probably quantified at the onset. To be frank, I’ve never taken a position without this.

It's a good question, I think it's probably subjective according to most people although I think expecting a manager to be 'fully backed' is actually far fetched, not many managers have that kind of autonomy at football clubs, you're right not even Pep gets 'fully backed' and that's at a state owned club.

Not really, the first time he signed a contract to play for Spurs he became a spurs player. If we ended up paying less, then that January window had a lower spend.

Yes, really.......

18 month loan
10m loan fee
Various obligation trigger points/options

...and despite all that we triggered none of them and went back to the negotiating table.

That's NOT your average situ.

Nobody can seriously claim that Bentancur and Kulu were signed for this Ange rebuild.

I've not made such a claim..... And I didn't even mention Bentancur! ......Why would I? He was an on the spot purchase. None of this applies to him in any way.

(....Mate; I intentionally started my post with "I agree" to avoid this bollocks......)

what are you talking about Ndombele's fee?

And yes, everybody absolutely counted Kulu as a 40m spend the moment he arrived in that january window.

Balls... You can bet your ass none of the Levy s(c)eptic gobshites did...... This place is always dripping with "Booo! Loans are fake trfs"-style nonsense.

For every person you care to accuse of 'double-counting' there'll be 1 or more people here trying to get away with not counting them at all in either window.

Who really cares which window they are. The spurs books don't.

The point is, I'm not counting them as part of the investment into Ange's rebuild. Nobody should. Kane money should be counted as an income for the Ange rebuild and the Kulu/Porro spends shouldn't be counted against the net spend of Amge's rebuild.

2022 Summer Transfer Thread = 1953 pages
2023 Summer Transfer Thread = 1953 pages…and counting

Surely this means it’s been a great window with all positives.

So Gift to come in as our 3rd CF.

Can he play wide at all?

Perisic and Solomon are decent but I wouldn't be thrilled to see them starting in big games. Can't help but feel we are a bit light in wide areas.
