The reason why I’m a little hesitant on the Orban move is imo he really does need time on loan. The things he must improve on are almost entirely “game time vs men” related, dealing with physical contact, playing hold-up, playing within a system and combining with teammates, holding off players, building confidence against packed defenses.

20 minutes every other week in the Prem is a great way to stagnate development imo. I think he does have a lot in his toolbox but he, much moreso than other young guys, NEEDS regular match play because he’s so far behind in that respect.

You’ve quoted that scouting article there haven’t you?

Or you’ve been watching the Belgian Jupiter League?

don’t forget Son can also play through the middle.

Orban isn’t coming in to replace Kane. Nobody is, the manager said almost word for word they aren’t going looking for a replacement #9.

But, but, but LEVY!!!

Levy is a disgrace for not building a team round Kane that could win the prem when there was a chance. No excuse,

Then hiring managers that he had to know would need more than he wanted to spend. Stupid and incompetent.

But.

For the first time since Poch and maybe even more so than Poch, he’s hired a manager that genuinely wants to prove it can be done without spending obscene money on players. There is something about that I can get behind.

Sure we’d all like to see us competing to sign the best in the world and under Conte, they should have if they were being honest with the appointment.

At least now though, there’s a chance for the club, manager, and fans to be on the same page.

I liked his comments surrounding, not having to spend fortunes, which is music to someone's ears.
But he also said, that sometimes you do have to buy top talent, which is also correct.
The club hopefully will eventually, get it right between, when to buy those players that add stardust to the team.

Tbh I'm not surprised, not only would he take a massive pay cut but any kind of career at the top level is over. I know people would say it's over now but he got a winners medal at Napoli, so he's hoping for more of the same.
ndombele will not play for us again, he is not willing to do the hard work required to play 60/70 mins per match
no club will pay his wages and a transfer fee, so Levy has to swallow and let him go on a free transfer providing the "buying club" pick up his contract
if not we will continue to pay him £200K pw till his contract ends

So you didn’t answer the first part.

Klinsmann was 30 years old and coming off a poor, injury-ridden (and controversial? ) season (with Monaco? as I recall). He rehabilitated his image and fucked off to Bayern after a year. That’s the truth of it.

Yup, he was world-class but no one really thought we were getting prime Klinsmann

Klinsmann was one of the star strikers in tne 94 world cup, he had recovered his mojo and form. Noone expected that he would sign for a club like us, especially after having just survived relegation in season 93-94.

I don't like having to say it, But we have spent on talent, but most have turned out to be duffers
Sanchez, Ndombele, GLC, something like £130M down the toilet, then add the cheap players we got in that just disappeared since 2016
someone has wasted a lot of the clubs money, Levy or transfer committee no one seems to take the blame
then we have the probelm of not getting these duffers out,

Always thought this is why he got the job.
Probably also said he'd give some of the deadwood a chance to redeem themselves. Or at least push their value up.
