22/23 Goal Differential
  1. City +63
  2. Arse +45
  3. United +15
  4. Newcastle +35
  5. Pool +28
  6. Brighton +19
  7. Villa +5
  8. Tottenham +7
To finish Top 5 this season, we need to be at least +20 in goal differential. Last season, we scored 70 and allowed 63. So, what's realistic in Ange's system to get to +20?

I'd guess 75 for and 55 against.
LW - 14
CF - 13
RW - 12
AM1 - 12
AM2 - 9
DM - 6
2FB's - 6 (Already got 1)
2CB's -3 (Already got 1)

I expect us to score 85 goals. Concede 60.

There are some good clubs in Argentina, but context is important.

The Argentine league has 28 teams with a lot of garbage at the bottom playing a single round-robin, the Belgian has only 18 in which Genk was in a season-ending playoff series against the better teams. Genk was also in the Europa League last year and Orban has a hattrick in the Conference League this year, whereas Veliz' Rosario Central hasn't been in the continental competitions while Veliz has been there.

All in all the teams Orban has played against are much stronger than those Veliz played against.

Veliz did score a brace in a 3-3 draw against River Plate on July 24th, that's pretty good. That might be available for replay on Paramount Plus maybe I could fire that up...:ange-hmm:

That's another thing with Veliz though, he arrives here having just finished a full season at a pretty tender age. Giving him some time and a "pre-season" would do him some good, whereas Orban is ready to rock.
He plays for Gent.

:ange-facepalm:

There really aren't that many quality wide left footed forwards who are "affordable". I hope Spurs are scouting Syrian-Swede, Roony Bardghji. He's still only 17 (turning 18 in November) so it's hard to predict how he'll develop.

Think Duranville is a bigger talent and as old + same position.

With all these players unsuitable to this system, I really hope the club has a clear strategy and identity going forward regardless of Ange staying six months or years.

The premier league was invented to keep more money at the top.
To put it another way, the Premier League was invented to control the direction of revenue in the game.

They control it in a certain way now. If they decided it suited them, they could choose a different way.

It's all going rather well for the PL at the moment, I don't think there's any inclination toward throwing the baby out with the bathwater. But they have options to address the City Problem to the extent that desire arises.

The PL are instructed by the clubs, the owners would need to vote 15/5 (and face the risk of those owners making their own PL with hookers and blackjack).

I wasn't necessarily disagreeing with you, just providing context that it was this way-ish but the PL was invented so only 20 teams vote for their own interests rather than the full Football league

Sadly , the player has a contract worth £200,000 per week and if he doesn’t want to go , we’re fucked . The lazy bugger is content just to pick up his wages until the end of his contract
I’d cancel the contract, pay him what he’s due and tell him to fuck off. In reality clubs hold onto players like this because they think some mugs will eventually pay something for them. I’d rather take the hit and get rid.

Postecoglou recently told football.london that he wants Giovani Lo Celso and Ivan Perisic to be part of his squad.
