Thing is; as I already noted, a sell on also acts as a buy-back by proxy anyway......

Insert a first-refusal and it's even more solid.

eg 15m +25% sell on >>>>>>> Eventually CP sell for 40m... We get 10m and Palace still double their money..... Or we can buy back at 30m and Palace are still doubling their outlay.... Palace get 30m upon sale either way.
Stretching it there a bit I think, it's an aid, ultimately the price at which you buy back, though discounted, could still be huge and is dictated by the market/performance.

Whereas a buyback is a price dictated by us in the sale agreement. If you have a buyback set for £10m and the player goes away and turns into Gareth Bale re-incarnate, then you can buy back a player worth £100m for £10m, if you've just got a sell on then sure you can knock 20% off but you'd still be shelling out £80m.

It doesn't matter all that much anyway, I'm just a wannabe perfectionist when it comes to our dealings, both in and out.

Sabotage is too strong a word. Levy isnt an idiot. I would say that since Martin Jol took over up until 2019 the club were on an upward trajectory and he played his part in that in a big way. But since the stadium has been built the decisions have been bizarre have they not? He has gone from being a person making good decisions to an individual making a succession of poor ones. It could just be as simple as that he is tired, has run out of ideas and just doesnt know what to do or doesnt have the balls to take us up another level. That is probably more likely but we just cant keep going on like this window after window. We all know how it is going to go from here on in.

All way more plausible (and yet still revolve around competency); but you started off saying things like "determined to make us worse" or "trying to send us backwards"..............

Aside from a brief honeymoon under Conte; the return to the stadium hasn't gone at all well........ It's ludcirous that this would in any way be deliberate though.

It's almost as if many of us knew we were spending ahead of Kane leaving, even as far back as last summer.
Nobody spends £60,000,000 on a forward to sit on the bench every week. We bought Richarlison for  when Kane left.
Now it's time to batten down the hatches un cease any spending until further funds are raised.
Problem is Richarlison's maximum goal return is 13 and is not a very good finisher. If we bought Richarlison as a replacement it is a dereliction of duty by the board.

Were talking about players that have all ranged from good to excellent in the not too distant past...... Assuming they can't adapt to the new managers vastly different system after one game is as I said; folly and at the very least rash.

Have you studied Ange enough to know the finer points of his system......? Are you seeing what he does in training...... The things that he presumably sees that makes him believes they CAN do what he asks?

Have you studied (eg) Orban enough to know that he would drop straight in and succeed - or at least score more than Rich or Son - after one game? .....If he doesn't; how many games do we give him before dropping him and going back to the well all over again.

Would I like to see at least one more attacking player brought in before the end of the window; yes...... But that's a seperate discussion to the questions above?
I haven't studied Ange and don't know the answers to your quetions but I just think we're weak at the front and a CB missing at the back.

We need wingers that can dribble, a striker that can score, a rotational
Cb that can run fast and probably another midfielder too. Think a goalscorer is probably the most pressing.
A goal scorer is not the most pressing. We played against a low block team and still managed 2 goals and 3 really good scoring chances. And most teams will not play that compact. Ange's system spreads the goals across many players, so we won't have trouble scoring.

What's most pressing is a good CB and a tricky winger.

Not a lot of decent strikers and the hope was he kicks on here 15 - 20 goals was a realistic goal and that costs 40m-60m last year and probably 60m-90m this.

"GUARENTEED" or at least it looked like it6

Why is Levy and ENIC determined to set us back further and further is the question I want to know. Since we have moved into the new stadium it is like they are trying to make us worse and help devalue the club. Something is going on, it isnt just incompetence, it cant be, now it just feels too calculated but makes no sense.
Bad strategy by hiring Jose and Conte, who were the wrong choices. I bet Levy thought a change in manager would get much more out of the squad that made the CL final and maybe also finally win us a cup. Turned out it was the wrong approach. Couple that with some really bad signings and we are where we are.

It's far from calculated. Just bad footballing decisions. From the looks of it the lesson has been learned, but don't expect a 180 degree turnaround after one transfer window. It'll take a year or two.

agree. Spent big on the wrong players. Intent was good when hire Jose and Conte. But these managers are overhyped. They needed to spend big to win. We just arent going to do that

Actually, if one consider that Spurs spent 3 1/2 seasons buying players for 2 ultra-defensive head-coaches (Mourinho & Conte) of whom neither gave youth much of a chance and one of them, Conte, got players to fit his rigid 3-4-3 formation (with no room for any offensive CM), I am surprised that the Spurs squad isn't in a worse condition to adjust to an offensive 4-3-3 formation...

Then why hire them?

We all know these were chequebook managers. Was he that deluded by the "quality" in the squad? We had outstanding players, complemented by awful ones. Our defensive ineptitude for four years - when Toby/Jan needed replacing - is there for all to see. Well, all but one.

In this context; that's not what maximum means, mate.

If we bought Richarlison as a replacement it is a dereliction of duty by the board.

IF true; poor decision making....? Possibly..... Dereliction of duty. Nah.

The problem with this theory though is that it's dependent on the idea that we actively WANTED to sell Kane as early as last summer when it's commonly accepted that we've been trying to get him to sign a new deal all along...........

THEN what if Kane stayed...... We've got a 60m bill for a player it transpires we never genuinely saw a need for anyway?

Rich was an attempt to sign a player that could provide quality rotation for Son AND Kane with CL, other cups and inury in mind. Expensive......?. Purse strings loosened with the idea of appeasing a certain Italian man in mind; but much more expensive than buying a LW and an ST instead? Not especially.

I never wanted them but can see why Levy would hire them, being told it wasn't the quality of the squad it was mentality of the club. He would have told them the budget which wasn't that small and they seemed to have bought in to it, end of last season Conte looked like a good bet

For me it was always going to end the way it did, I never agreed with hiring them (bad fit for the club) but can see why he did

If it's "huge" then Spence will have become one hell of a player.

I don't see how what I've said is a stretch.......

If we sell Spence to CP for 15m there's now way they agree to a buy-back clause under 30m....... That IS a stretch as it would put them firmly in the trap of developing our player for them for fuck all.... ALL their risk, none for us.

It doesn't matter all that much anyway, I'm just a wannabe perfectionist when it comes to our dealings, both in and out.

LOL...... Would be nice, eh. :)
