I'd maintain that given the squad he had, that Redknapp team played some incredible stuff. Such a shame he mucked up his legacy by getting distracted by England manager rumours at the end.

There'd have been no AVB bollocks if that was the case..... More CL, Edin Hazard signed, maybe a cup and a genuine title challenge.... Sliding doors.

Indeed. Not sure if he is getting full pay or the club managed to claim he brought them into disrepute (I imagine he is on full pay as it's simpler for them) but to go around saying where you'd fancy moving to and showing little contrition is dickhead behaviour.

Also at 27 I'd fancy taking a punt on someone younger (see: Orban).

They're backing him to the hilt over this..... And Franke has said some silly stuff in the process.

Whilst I am always up for taking the piss out of Chelsea, perhaps we should be saving these kind of posts until we actually win something?

We have achieved nothing yet to be gloating about how cheap Bissouma and Sarr were.
Two outcomes:

1. This is a narrow window of opportunity and the only chance we get... Enjoy it while it lasts.
2. They stay shit and we achieve more than them this season, in which case we should definitely be starting early and milking every drop of chav tears.

We'd have needed a clear run at Doku. If he is Man City bound then the sooner it gets done the better - and then we don't have to worry about them as competition for the winger targets still out there.
We should have gone after Doku in the summer of 2021. I know a we should not base our assessment of a player off one tournament, by man was he scintillating in the Euros. In any case, it is what it is.

Aaaaaaaand dropped.

Side note: would it not be very possible for someone who has demonstrated a gambling addiction (and is serving a subsequent ban) to have it reoccur at some point if we signed him?

:sonhmm:
Especially when they are lacking in contrition, complain about their treatment and have shown various other examples of poor judgement and self-control (e.g. supporting goons)

Really like Doku as a player by the way, but missing 50 games in the last two seasons is a major red flag.

He can get away with that at City due to the depth but it will be interesting to see how his body holds up in this league and in that system.

Ligue 1 is more physical than the Prem, so if anything I'd expect it to help his injury issues.

Nah, he's the one we need. I just watched the whole interview and he's got a massive drive to push himself to the top, spurred on even more by this ban. This is classic aggregator nonsense anyway. Like if he came here those comments would make a bit of difference. I suspect in a month's time if we are firing under Ange and he's asked what he thinks of us he would say he likes our football. I'd be more concerned if he came out and said he loved watching us under conte than him liking watching the scum play!
Brentford are doing fine without him. One stand out season, gambling addict, cost 70-100m, 28 next year.
We got to make smarter signings than that. I doubt he will get the big move he's after, maybe Newcastle will buy if they get desperate.
