Unless he's stopped caring it's just dumb.
Reading that he is open to a loan move.
This is all about salary preservation (which makes perfect sense). He’ll probably lose half his salary on his next contract so the difference on a loan move will represent a year’s salary at a new contract. He’s probably not getting more than three years so that’s a shit-load comparatively speaking.

Here's a 25-man roster, as of today.

16 @ non-HG players (17 max.): Richarlison, Perisic, Son, Kulusevski, Solomon, Bissouma, Bentancur, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Porro, Royal, Romero, Van de Ven, Sanchez, Dier, Vicario

4 @ U-21 players: Sarr, Udogie, Phillips, Veliz

5 @ HG players: Forster, Austin, Skipp, Davies, Maddison

RW a glaring issue, IMO. Son playing there might help? Or Porro w/ Royal @ RB?

Get to January with a committee of #9s in Richarlison, Son and Veliz and then reassess, unless Lukaku/etc. falls in our laps.

5 CBs for coverage, IMO. Davies 2nd-choice LB + LCB cover in a pinch.
Sanchez #3 CB, Dier/Phillips 4th/5th.
Sanchez + Dier BOTH being non-HG is a problem for our roster. I'd let Dier walk and find an immediate upgrade on Sanchez.

Love our midfield, but I loved our midfield this time last season... until we loaned-out Ndombele, Lo Celso, and (less so) Winks. Højbjerg probably needs to go if he expects to play anywhere near the amount he's received in previous seasons at Tottenham.

Our GK corps: still TBD.

INJURED: Bryan Gil, Sessegnon
LOAN: Rodon (Leeds), Devine, Spence, Scarlett, White
SELL: Lloris, Tanganga, Højbjerg, Reguilón, Dier

Gold said we have to rid 9 players to get 3 in.

Spence loan
Tanganda sell
Dier sell
Sanchez (if the right offer come)
Ndombele sell
Hojbjerg sell
Lloris terminate contract
White sell
Reguilon sell

Not saying Phillips can’t help us but we have a really solid midfield already and he’s probably looking for opportunities to start.

Only way he starts for us is due to injuries or AFCON.

We don't have a solid midfield until Bentancur returns and even then it depends what side of how good he is.

Not saying it should be Phillips and not saying midfield is the key area but adding, especially if Hjojberg leaves, is necessary.

Not the worst shout at all.

Could play him as the out and out six and then push Biss further forward.

Not sure if Man City have any interest in doing business with us though.
I am not against getting him in but I that either Phillips or Man City would want a loan to a club where he may end up being a bench player, then he may as well stay at Man City.
The form Bissouma is in now, Phillips would have a hard time displacing him. And then there is the emergence of Sarr and Bentancur coming back from injury.

That's true.

But he could also be getting more space than in any league in the world.

The Belgian league is hardly a great league is it. I just find it interesting that the leagues reputation seems to have gone up a level since we've been linked with him.

And this is coming from someone who wants us to sign him. The unknown excites me.

He could be the next big thing. He could also be a colossal flop. I want us to find out.
I feel pretty much the same. I haven't seen enough of the kid to actually formulate a considered opinion, but what I have seen has me 'feeling' that he'll take the league by storm.

It's rare that I feel that way about a player, but those I have have usually come good.

I have had my rickets there though, so no guarantee but, like you, I'd really like to find out, and I can't think of a better coach to help him realise that potential than AP.

Thing with Dier and Lloris is how has been allowed to go on this long?

Could have paid both Contracts out weeks ago and moved on with the rebuild.

Tanganga, Regui, Tanguy i get it, we need to see what we can get. Spence as well.
Does it matter?

If they decide that they're not in our plans, then what harm does it do waiting to see if they can get a fee for them? If, at the end of the window, they can't sell them, then buy them out. Either way, those two shouldn't have any impact on buying other players if that is the plan.

HG update for you :
Club trained – 2 ( Skipp, Austin) ....... others possuble are Tanganga, White
Other Assn Trained – 3 (Forster, Davies, Maddison) Others possible Spence, Sessegnon
u21's might include Scarlett. Phillips, Dorrington, Donley et al but also Sarr and Veliz under PL rules

But with 5 HG, unless we buy other HG players we are limited to a 20 man squad of players over the age of 21 plus unlimited number of u21 (including Sarr)

So including Sarr and Veliz your squad can't exceed 22 players (Edit - including Udogie as u21 player means squad can be a max of 23 players)

Perhaps but we're also then hoping Bentancur can get back to his best post injury.

And then when Bissouma and Sarr potentially miss 8 games during the new year, it'd leave us with just Skipp, Maddison, Lo Celso and Bentancur.
Bissouma and Sarr are not missing 8 games. There'll be a winter break this season from Jan. 13-20. AFCON has its opening ceremony on Jan. 13. This season the AFCON final will be delayed to Feb. 11. Generally it takes 9 days from the first match to the semi-final, so at most they'll miss two days, and then probably like four days in February if they make it to the final.
