Just over a week to go, we don’t seem to be able to ship any and the manager has been clear that we need to do that in order to bring players in - from a squad management perspective rather than financial.

I’m sure we will get nibbles next week but they better firm up to full blown bites otherwise what we’ve got now is what we will take into the season and our forwards look as sharp as a spoon

A bid of 40 - 50 millon on Eze would be well worth it.

He would add something.
Difficult player to value, on the one hand he doesn’t have outstanding goal involvements, on the other he has been playing for Palace and creating chances for Benteke and Ayew.

The big thing is - I just don’t see us making a move for him this window and think we have narrowed down our attacking player range to Orban or Johnson now - it will be one of them 2 or no one.

More worrying is that the only CB we seem interested in currently is Tosin and he doesn’t seem to want to join us.

Don't understand the hate towards Johnson tbh. Unlike Eze he actually fits the system. If we learnt anything from the United game, it would be that Maddison needs someone like Sarr to cover for him, and Eze would not be a good option alongside Maddison (maybe last 20 mins of games if in control and chasing a goal). Johnson would be able to play the RW as Ange would like it played and he would add some pace we don't currently have

Hmmmm... agree reasoning Eze.

A striker is the necessity, followed closely by a CB. And definitely a midfielder if Hjojberg leaves.

Quite an important end to this window for me, which will determine if it's hope or a degree of expectation for this season.

Mentioned it many times esp when being linked with Kesse, Orban and Nuamah.

It’s quite incredible how wrong we got it with him from an attitude perspective, especially considering how much value Pochettino put on the kind of person you are.
Say what you want about the quality of some of the signings made under him, but bar Ndombele they all seemed like level headed, really decent blokes.

And it’s not even like it’s a case that Ndombele is just a lazy shit on the field but a joker/good guy off it. Since he’s arrived, in my opinion anyway, he’s come across as an absolute dickhead. Moody, never made a single attempt to engage with fans, doesn’t appear to have any friends whatsoever in the squad. Just an absolute knob.
It's amazing because one conversation with him should have told you everything. A right misery guts.

I doubt he put on some kind of act during the signing process, we just did half-arsed due diligence in pursuit of a high profile signing.

Do you not think Johnson’s strength is more on the counter where he is isolated against a defender and can use straight line speed, whereas we are squeezed up in the final third a lot of the time and what we need is quick but also clever movers in tight spaces?

Eze can do this as a wf (as we saw last night when he nearly got the pen) but can also play as an 8 (instead or with Maddison) as well.

I just think he’s a much more versatile tool than Johnson.

That is how Forest play so that's how we know Johnson, and yes, he's good on the counter. I could still see him taking on defenders out wide even if the opposition have dropped deep. I love Eze's flair but out of possession he's not busy enough to be in a team with Maddison and Son. At least that's my take

I didn't suggest we did.

What about players with unique training/rehab requirements? What about GKs?
Of course that’s allowed but that’s an individual thing but they’ll still train with the group as normal or when they are fit again. If you don’t let players who you are trying to get out or piss off train in a group they can take you to the PFA. It’s a rule that was brought in a few years back. It’s to stop clubs trying to force players out when they’ve agreed on a length of contract. The club needs to honour it unless there is disciplinary issue. I’d imagine it’s also a mental health thing and that you can’t isolate individuals.
