Also, you do realise that the post I responded to you called a selection of the member of this board a 'gang of defenders' so while I do appreciate your feedback on my post, perhaps a bit of self awareness could go a long way
It wasn’t addressed to you. You chose to respond to it and in your response to it, you spoke about throwing toys out the pram.

If you chose to respond to a post about gangs of defenders in a defensive manner, that’s more about your own defensiveness than anything else.

And you're a Levy and ENIC cuck and for that you have my pity!

:pochsmirk:

Is it up to us who we sign? If it is, another forward is a must and we need a CB, possibly another midfielder if Hojberg goes and, let's be honest here, probably a better backup keeper than Forster.

The clock, as per fucking usual, is ticking.

The danger as seen many times over is the longer we leave it, the higher the risk of deals falling through. Selling club injuries or unable to get their own targets often = deals for the players they both do and will reluctantly sell falling through.

Our first XI with the exception of Richarlison and serious competition for Son/Kulusevski is about as good as it’s going to get. Bentancur will return at some point but we don’t know if he’ll regain his pre injury form.

Beyond the starters though, as you’ve mentioned there’s several scenarios where injuries to GK, defence, central midfield and striker and we’ll be hiding behind the sofa as the depth (quality) simply isn’t there.

Vicario - Forster is past it (reminds me of Friedel)
CB - no stand out cover
Emerson - Porro isn’t a RB
Udogie - tumbleweed as cover
Bissouma and Sarr - injury = huge drop in quality
Richarlison runs around - not good enough and no adequate alternative or not without moving Son

And therein lies the difference. One injury to Son or Rucharlison and we are in trouble.

The squad la ck goals. It's simply naive and dangerous not to see it and we lack cover, so whilst we can't just buy without moving players on, it is the least risky optipn by far.

We sold a 25 a season striker and have replaced him so far with zip. Danger signals right there.
Agree, but this is a massive decision. I would personally prefer to take a risk and just go with those two than lump up 100M on a player that’s bang average, and we are stuck with for five years

OK...... The solution to that one is staring right back then.

Be clear; people don't get accused of peddling conspiracy theories for saying "Levy is shit" or "We should do X".... They get such accucusations for saying out-there bollocks like "Levy is deliberately sabotaging the recruitment process" and "he's stolen all the money".

If one heeds this distinction; people will likely read that phrase a LOT less.

We have 18 games until the window opens. I would rather not panic buy and instead give our current group half a season
Herein lies the problem with our clubs mentality, it's a bizarre scarcity mindset. The club pay good money for people to draw up contingency plans for these sort of upcoming scenarios, so it should definitely not be panic buying by any means.

We knew it was very possible Kane was going, we also knew that would obviously mean Richarlison would be our only number 9 back up. A guy that scored 1 goal in 27 (15 sub) appearances last season! We 1000% need another striker, and Orban would just be enough to fill the potential void if Rich gets injured, or continues to be goal shy....

Again, interesting that you have replied to a post that wasn’t directed at you in a defensive way.

Not really; you've complained directly to me about that matter numerous times and still seem completely oblivious to your role in that word being used to begin with.

Says more about your own view of your posts than anything else.

Lol... U wot?

Pretty damn sure every time you reply to me it won't be because you've been "directly addressed".

This is why another CB (and number 9) is priority, if Udogie gets injured we can then put VDV in at left back, ifabsolutely necessary.

Does anyone believe we’ll spend that on him? Someone said 8 goals 38 games is a good return for a winger but I think we need at least double figures at worst for that position. We are goi g to create loads of chances this season and we need our wide guys to really contribute with goals because we don’t have a striker that can score 20 goals a season now.
Ordinarily, not a chance.

There is a looming threat of deadline day desperation. That threat it growing.

The good thing is that Ange has said he’s at the wheel so we won’t be signing anyone he didnt want. But as a fan, it would be tough to stomach a desperation 50m on Johnson, who doesn’t look like a 50m player.

For sure - it is frustrating.

What are your expectations for the season?

For me - top six finish and a cup semi-final at least seem reasonable considering where we are today as a club.

It's a shame that is where we are but with a new manager, new players many of whom are quite young I think that is a pretty fair expectation. ANother CB and Forward won't increase my personal expectation but it will make me feel a bit more comfortable that we will reach it.
Top 6 and Europe League and losing another semi, final, ambition ?
