What if he plays well and scores or assists against B'Muff?

a) He won't.

b) He'll still end up out the door sooner rather than later. These first murmurs of 'Ange doesn't rate me as much as I thought waaa' are just the beginning.

Him and Ndombele are lost causes at Spurs. GLC is the much more salvageable one of the two and a decent footballer, but he'll never accept being a squaddie which is all he's good enough to be.

I'd much rather get PEH out the door than Lo Celso

A big part of that is I can be certain that through performance and fitness, Lo Celso will take only the minutes away from Sarr that he absolutely deserves and is helping the team with, probably a somewhat limited amount. Even with Ange I have no such confidence about PEH.

What would you realistically like to see as a net spend? Lets say forward and another CB for a combined 70m?

Given our biggest rivals are spending approx 230m net this season and we're the ones who need to play catch-up and rebuild, something similar would be nice. Our revenue is extremely comparable and there is no reason for us to accept less.

Thoughts on Jonathan David?

Pffftt. Don’t hate him, don’t love him.

He’s not totally one dimensional, obviously he can score goals, he’s technically ok, strong athletic so will be ok in the PL physically, he does some work off the ball, he’s not totally devoid of hold up play,

Can you stop being so childish? Grown ups are having a conversation.

Where? I hope you aren’t including yourself in that.

Didn’t realise it was childish to disagree with your opinion. Sorry Adolf, your word is law, clearly.

Oh do get over yourself you obnoxious octopus. You’re allowed your opinion, and I’m allowed mine. Simple as that.

if you reply it had better be an apology

If a recruitment operation is working properly in 2023, the question of who is the Ultimate Final Authority for a signing, assignable to their permanent record for all time, should be irrelevant.

If the process isn’t inherently collaborative, that’s problem #1 to fix.

Much fairer than the nonsense spat out by that argumentative greasy haired manchild. Of course it should be collaborative, and we should utilise proper scouting and data…but the FINAL say must be the managers. Simple as.

I'd agree that's low.... No idea what it 'should' be though.
There shouldn't be a spending target as such. Only that the necessary recruitment is done to the extent possible.

Though I suppose for a club like ours somewhere north of £150m should feasible for 3/4 years with one or two lean years in between.

Lille sold Osimhen and won the league the next season with David.

He’s quick, extremely two footed, can play anywhere across the front 3, can drop in or run in behind, he creates and scores goals.

I don’t think he has elite potential (Osimhen, Haaland, Kane) but he will be a level behind.

My favourite things are:
- 2 footed
- great composure, time slows down for him in the box…I’ve seen him sit keepers down
- his attitude. He is hard on himself and works very hard and is humble and self-effacing. Maybe similar to son or Kane in that respect.

I honestly can’t think of someone better to bring in. He’s perfect for us. But again … no one we could get would ever be a « Kane replacement ».

I like the idea of someone who's versatile. I haven't watched David at all, but I like his numbers, regardless of penalties. Especially as a teenager in Belgium.

If we're heading in a data driven period era for the club, I can see why David would be linked. I saw yesterday that everything is practically identical between him and Orban except Orban is a better finisher in a weaker league but David is alot more creative.

It’s crazy how diametrically opposed the optimism around the manager and the on-field product is, compared to the pessimism of our transfers (or lack thereof).

18 games when we could, possibly be out of contention for top 5 or challenging for top 3.
Can we please forget about top anything? As much as all of us would love for Spurs to challenge at the top end of the table, let's not forget that this is a rebuilding year utilizing a brand new playing style and philosophy. The most important thing is to see progress on the pitch. In the course of that, it may turn out that we need reinforcements in some areas we didn't think we did and be OK in other areas we thought we needed to strengthen. The purpose of a rebuild with a brand new playing style is to highlight these things so we can move forward with the right moves. But we need to be patient!

Ordinarily, not a chance.

There is a looming threat of deadline day desperation. That threat it growing.

The good thing is that Ange has said he’s at the wheel so we won’t be signing anyone he didnt want. But as a fan, it would be tough to stomach a desperation 50m on Johnson, who doesn’t look like a 50m player.
Maybe from some TFC posters, but I sure hope not from the people involved in our transfer dealings!
