There is no indication this has anything to do with the club interfering. The news a few weeks back was that they aren’t requiring a fee due to his service to the club, and to make it easy for him.

This seems more like Hugo not being happy he isn’t wanted as a first choice at any decent sized club.
I agree.

My reading is that the club is being respectful to our long time captain by continuing to pay him until he finds a new club. It was clear when he didn't go on the pre-season tour that all sides accepted his time at Spurs was up.

I suspect there's a verbal agreement with Lloris & his agent that if he goes to a big club we may ask for a nominal fee, and if he goes to a medium-sized club he can leave for free.

The challenge is that Lloris wants to be first choice, and the number of clubs that will make him first choice and pay his large salary is fairly small. His agent's failure to get clarity on Hugo's role at clubs bidding for him is exacerbating the situation.

If Hugo is still here at the end of window, it's likely we don't register him and seek to loan him out so some other club pays his wages for the rest of the season. IIRC the loan window continues for a week or so after the permanent transfer window closes.

Then we have dier just happy to waste a season collecting wages to sit at home.
This is really the problem though, isn’t it? If Galatasary come in for Dier we might accept anything but he won’t. Hugo has a chance to move on but he won’t. Nobody is going to pay Tanguy anything close to what he wants so he won’t move because he’s not motivated by playing obviously. PEH seems like he wants to to, but it appears Atletico are dragging their feet.

I said from the start of the summer I was more worried about outgoings than incomings so I’m not happy about it either. That said it’s like we have a used car lot full of broken down shit cars and we’re wondering why we just can’t sell them already. To make it worse it’s like the cars get to have a say as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised that we hit the end of the window and we start mutually terminating contracts.

Hilarious that bastoni is on another level to lenglet. Bastoni had an excellent game vs man City. Is highly regarded in italy to this day, and wasn't a player in poor form who a big team were trying to cast off. In fact inter wanted to keep him.

While we are blaming conte for richarlison and porro (who remains a useful player by the way), let's do the same and congratulate him for bissouma, bentancur, romero, and udogie...
Bastoni is better than Lenglet, but he's the same type of player, with the same limitations, he'd have been killed playing surrounded with Perisic and Dier.

And I'm not blaming Conte, I'm saying he clearly had plenty of money to throw around, and if he wanted to spend big on an CB he could've, but he preferred Lenglet cause he clearly liked players of that profile.

Hugos turning down offers, no indication that not being a free agent is stopping more attractive offers.
You could be right…

I just fail to see how if interested clubs didn’t have to deal with Tottenham and Daniel Levy that it wouldn’t increase the amount of offers being made to Hugo?

There were reports lately that we were still looking for a fee of some sort, which is sure to detract potential suitors.

Depends on where he wants to go, I doubt any CL team would have problems paying what we'd want for Lloris, maybe if he wants to go to a smaller French club it would be a barrier.

We’ve had a look at this bloke in the past. I wonder if we might have another nibble. One of Paratici’s favourites.

You know even I thought that surely not even Daniel Levy’s Tottenham would be arrogant and incompetent enough to conclude absolutely zero pieces of business after selling our best player for £100m.

But suddenly that seems incredibly realistic.

How, literally how, do you go two weeks after selling Kane and do FUCK ALL not even one bloody outgoing? How? How??????????????
Because we're run by ineptitude.
People need to rub the shit out of their eyes. They're not here for glory, they're here for business. I've explained how they line their pockets without taking club funds hundreds of times so I'm not doing it again.

Thats the trouble though, some of our Highly pampered rejects would rather stay and collect a wage then move on and actually play football, Fair play to Winks for not doing this!
What are the rules around us sending out players out to other clubs , IE we say to Dier you either take the Offer we have for you to go Fulham, or we are sending you to go and play for Wrexham , could the player turn down a loan move if we are paying his wages in full?
yes

Genuine question...

Why are people so obsessed with how much we have spent? I understand that to compete with Man City we will need to win the spending but United try it every season and seemingly fail, Chelsea have spent more money than everyone combined and looked shite all last season.

Then you have a team like Brighton who don't seem to spend a penny but have built and incredible side that play the kind of football we all love to watch.

So honestly why does it matter how much we spend when the only thing that matters is how well the players we buy perform for us.

Romero, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Udogie all would like have cost us 2x what we paid for them this summer - We picked up one of the top 5 performing midfielders in the league for 40 mil when if Conte would have sanctioned the deal last year he likely would have also cost double.
I’m not. I’m concerned with the composition of our squad. I in no way expect perfection but I think we have 2 clear weaknesses:-

1) We’re an attacking player short. Whether that’s a CF or a wide player, it feels to me like we’re a body short in the attacking areas in the absence of Kane. This is compounded by the poor performances of Richy and the inconsistency of Son over the last 12 months.

2) Depth at CB. VDV has looked a great buy in his first 2 games but the prospect of Romero getting a bad injury and us reverting to Sanchez, Dier or Tanganga petrifies me, and it has the possibility of unravelling our whole season. No additional CB is very poor risk management from the club IMO.

I’m not into panic buying and I want us to buy the right players for Ange’s system, but we’ve needed more CB reinforcements for 2 years now and if we’ve genuinely known Kane was likely to leave all summer I don’t accept we shouldn’t have appropriate options lined up. Maybe we do, there’s still time I guess.

NB i dont agree with those saying we need an additional CM, even if one of PEH or GLC leave. We have enough quality options there IMO and I want Bentancur to get mins when he’s back and available. I think he fits this system like a glove.

So in summary, not about money for me, all about need. 👍

He’s deluded. The only player that stayed home when the club went on tour. He’s had MONTHS to do nothing but focus on a move. The only thing we’ve heard is him rejecting a move to Lazio because of playing time !
