Sanchez is in the last year of his deal.

If we don't sell him, do you offer him a new contract? I wouldn't Just let him walk for free? Not ideal.

Can't be short sighted. Sanchez isn't a long term answer. He should still be moved on.

If Dav is considered to be worthy of one of our 4 main CB slots this season then for the sake of 10m he is absolutely worth losing on a free next summer.

If Dav leaves we have Rom / VVD..... And then what?

Dier & Davies would get ripped apart at CB in this system.

Spence, Reguilon, Lloris, Ndombele, Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso the potential outgoings still to come in rough order of likelihood of staying with a role in the team?

Winks, Rodon and Kane the only outgoings settled so far.

We gotta get some work done here.

But how is he a big step up over Kulu? Yeah he's a bit more of a livewire, but his finishing is shit, and he doesn't seem to be significantly better in any other technical aspect.
Nah that’s the thing, I don’t think he is, but I am so thoroughly depressed by our lack of attacking options that I’m grasping at straws to find some positives.

I do think Johnson is a much better player than Anthony Gordon at least, thank fuck we didn’t sign that. And if we can include players and offload big wages in the process, it’s a win-win.

Not convinced by him of course but if we can do something to rid ourselves of Dejan Kulusevski inexplicably being the first name on the team sheet and a penciled in starter at RW I’m in favour of it. How he has somehow cemented a nailed on starting role every week in that position is beyond me.

But it could also mean we have spent 95m on Potentially two very less than stellar options for the same position.

I just think if we are spending 50m it should be on a player who’s nailed on to improve us. Are any of us convinced by Johnson?

If we were looking to spend upwards of 50m on a winger that isn't very good at scoring, there are a lot of options. I'd love for us to get Pedro Neto. Absolutely top class in terms of workrate, dribbling, and retaining possession on his own, he's got a decent bit of pace and his short passing is good too.

His crossing is not great either, so actual end product would be relatively poor.

I maintain:

Keep:
GLC
Dav

Getting rid of either one now just creates squad weaknesses that we don't have time to fill.

Loan, Sell, Bin, Burn the rest as applicable.

....And FFS go and get Tosin!!!!

He isn't, but being fast and right-footed he offers different options to Kulu, and I assume Ange has plans on how to use him otherwise we wouldn't be pursuing him.
If you're investing huge resources to bring a player into the club you need to be confident you have a potential star, full stop.

There is a gigantic potential universe of players out there, you don't drop 40-50M just out of convenience.

Contra something like Solomon where he's there for free, why not take a punt.

Maybe five years ago. Anthony Gordon is another mediocre, rapid HG player and he went for 45m.

Is it the best use of resources? Probably not, but HG comes with a stupid premium.

It’s all gone quiet on Orban though hasn’t it?

I reckon we’ve dropped interest in him for johnson or he will only be got if we offload quite a few. I wouldn’t be surprised if we bought him and loaned him back out either.

I think Orban is something we know we can pull the trigger on and get done superquick so is now on the backburner subject to any other remaining activity.

Just doesn't add up, does it..... Someone at the club must have a serious boner for him, for us (!!!) to spend 50m on him.... Or on anyone if we're being brutally honest.
