Gordon is better than Johnson?

Not sure about that
Yeah Johnson is a lot better than Gordon. Dont rate Gordon at all and while Johnson isnt a £50m player (probably not £40m) he at least has some good attributes. I'm ok with him signing but he is never going to go on and be some amazing player. He will give us options though and could even mean we could move Kulu central if required.

I don’t hate the idea of Kulu at #9 or #8

Gordon is dump, doesn’t really create many chances, doesn’t score loads of goals, doesn’t really stretch play, doesn’t create space or link well with team mates - he is just average at everything - proper Jack of all trades

Salas and Saka definitely above. Kulusevski at his best is better than the others.

Sterling will be in Saudi next year
Hell no. What is his best exactly. A bright patch over 18 months ago? That is 18 months ago. 18 months ago Kante was the best DM in the world leading Chelsea to a CL now he’s a Saudi.

Let me remind you he got 3; yes, THREE, goal contributions in 20 matches post World Cup last year. It’s not just that he was ineffective with end product, he does not take on players well, he is arguably the slowest winger in the entire league, and he slows down our attack so much because he only ever goes left. The one time he went right we scored vs United and he hasn’t done it once since! The goal yesterday was the first good thing he’s done in months.

He does have more potential I’ll live in hope for that. But as a wide 10 type I’d take Bernardo Silva easily over him, and as an Ange winger, Sterling Diaby and Bowen clear him so easily. They’re much more direct and put pressure on the defense on the run. Defenders don’t even blink when Kulu runs at them. He’s slow and not particularly strong.

I would’ve agreed with you 3 hours ago but he was brilliant today and done everything but score today.
Crazy thing is you love Richarlison and he’s below average at everything 😜😜🤣🤣🤣

What did you think about:

Porro and Udogie as FBs?
Vicario?
Van de Ven?
- I didn't have a strong opinion any of those players tbh, except Udogie.

I thought Porro looked technically good. The one outstanding trait I saw in him was the long ball, similar to TAA. I said we should use him to deliver balls to Son/Kane/Kulu from near the half-way line, rather than going up the pitch to do it, like Trippier does.

- I was concerned about Udogie's defensive laziness, and questioned whether he is a good crosser, cos he seemed to only play short passing exchanges and dribbling to create chances. His defensive workrate has been a big surprise, the rest not a big surprise, but his overall quality is a bit better than I expected. I think Jaynola Jaynola can vouch for that.

- Simillarly Vicario, I didn't express a strong opinion, I certainly didn't shit on him just cos he was cheap.

- Van De Ven I thought looked a little unsteady but I argued for him because of the tactical fit with Romero rushing forward and him covering the space in behind, which is how it pretty much played out.

With Johnson, I have seen him a fair bit now, and I get the same feeling with him as I did Sessegnon, Clarke and a few others. A hint of quality, a spark in an otherwise unconvincing player. He's obvisouly no Dan James, but £50m? Not for me.

Inter got there through the most favourable knockout draws probably in the history of the competition, they got Benfica, Porto and AC Milan en route to the final, the only halfway impressive thing being that they knocked Barca out at the group stage, but it's hardly the best Barca team of the last 20 years and they were having teething issues in Europe under Xavi going back to the previous season.

And besides if its so great playing for a CL silver medalist why will he leave them to join us who finished 8th last term? Oh yeah, because Italian football is destitute and he is very gettable for the right cash... yet no serious elite team is even interested enough to test Inters resolve. Hmm.
To be fair they were fortunate to beat Porto let alone Benfica.

We MUST sign another CB. Tosin looks favourite.

If we sign Johnson now, he can play a number of positions and is class. It still leaves the way for Toney or Ferguson next summer.

I think we should keep Sanchez and Lo Celso as they both vould be useful.

We don't seem to be looking at strikers, I guess the plan is to move Son up front if Richi continues to bomb.

So I'm guessing Levy's plan is to sign a wide forward and sign a CB. Two of Davinson/Dier/Tanganga will be binned. If Lo Celso or Hojbjerg leave then we will need another midfielder too.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are joining the race to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko ahead of the transfer deadline.

PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko continues to attract major interest with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur now keen.

Dont do it.

Steven Bergwijn looked muuccchh better then this kid when he was at PSV and we all know how he turned out in England.

Even if Rich gets his confidence back he's still not dynamic enough as a player for us to win the treble with!!! :dier:

Somebody asked me how good is Kulu at his best or in his stride.

My answer was right

I don’t care how it gets spun, but there is no way Johnson is worth 50 million.

He’s fast? Great. We have and had fast players, and some of them were real shit.
Not for nothing but for 50M you can probably get either Pedro Goncalves or Marcus Edwards (English and a Spurs boy) from Sporting next summer because I highly doubt we will be able to keep either of them beyond this season. EPL players have a crazy tax even if they are bang average.
