Ange may be into the idea of Johnson but also feels like a signing of convenience as well.

Feels a bit like club PR hiding behind “Ange’s top priority” because they know the fans would have been hoping for more after selling Kane.

How about instead of honing on a single word, hone in on the sentiment. Either pay whatever it takes for a truly elite forward (winger or striker), or get someone who would be a clear upgrade on our forwards, but at a reasonable price, or a prospect who you intend to actually play (like Udogie, not Veliz).

Neto is an example of the latter, since the former isn't/wasn't available.

I’m open minded to what he can do for us.

It’s also not that I’m saying Ange isn’t on board. Ange himself says no player comes in he doesn’t want.

I believe him.

The “top target” leak just stinks of PR to manage the fans.

You can’t tell me there was a single Spurs fan that would have been ok with Kane being sold and the only forward recruits being Solomon and Johnson.

Ali Gold is obviously the go to for Spurs to release info unofficially, if starts outing important targets/information that the club doesn't want released, he'd quickly find himself frozen out.

It's only their 2nd season though.... They'll have another season to get their shit in order.

They're at around 200m as you say...... A couple more small purchases for 10-15m + a Johnson sale would still bring them down to around 170-180m (n).
