Hell no. What is his best exactly. A bright patch over 18 months ago? That is 18 months ago. 18 months ago Kante was the best DM in the world leading Chelsea to a CL now he’s a Saudi.

Let me remind you he got 3; yes, THREE, goal contributions in 20 matches post World Cup last year. It’s not just that he was ineffective with end product, he does not take on players well, he is arguably the slowest winger in the entire league, and he slows down our attack so much because he only ever goes left. The one time he went right we scored vs United and he hasn’t done it once since! The goal yesterday was the first good thing he’s done in months.

He does have more potential I’ll live in hope for that. But as a wide 10 type I’d take Bernardo Silva easily over him, and as an Ange winger, Sterling Diaby and Bowen clear him so easily. They’re much more direct and put pressure on the defense on the run. Defenders don’t even blink when Kulu runs at them. He’s slow and not particularly strong.

Opponents have figured out his main weakness - no right foot - and have worked hard to exploit it.

If Deki can’t go left he is basically useless.

Why assume that a club looks for a "direct replacement".

Ange hasn't after losing Kane?

Completely different scenario as Ange had to put his stamp on the team and had a system in place long before he got here. So it wouldn't have mattered if he lost Kane or not.

Johnson is a wide winger who is crucial to Forest on the transition due to his pace. He's one of their own, a crown jewel in their overall system. Though, it's been said that they're after Hudson-Odoi, who is pretty similar in profile to Johnson so I guess he'd be their replacement.

Gimenez, Orban, Taremi, Watkins, Jonathan David.

Any of these are attainable and valuable options for different reasons. Watkins is probably the most difficult and the most expensive.

Taremi is the cheapest and a stop gap.

Orban, Gimenez and David the young ones to build around.

Spurs have the Kane money and can afford 1 If not 2 of these guys.
Okay. Watkins ain't coming to us and hit and miss. Orban who knows. Other names no idea.

I do completely agree we need a striker and cannot believe we did not have one sorted,, knowing Kane was 95% certain to leave.

Odoi is quite a different type of player although what he is like now is anyone's guess.

3 or 4 years ago he looked top drawer, then got injured.

More skilful than pacy is how I remember him and no great ability in front of goal.

I'll try to broker a deal for you, but I reckon a loan with an obligation to buy (with a maximum usage clause) is the best I can get you.
I'll take it, i'm not greedy, only cheap!

I'd much rather find someone who can work in tight spaces and unpick locks than spend 50m on Forest Gump and his straight line running fast.
We’ve got a pretty creative midfield with Maddison, Sarr, and Bissouma plus Lo Celso and Bentancur. Kulusevski and Son both put up big assist numbers as wingers.

But we have no pace going forward in the side at all except Porro, Udogie, and Richarlison sort of.

Exactly. But when you're breaking the press, or getting countered, it could be useful.
Yes, and for that limited skillset you pay £30m not £50m. For £50m you want a player who is a clear upgrade on the player you already have in that position.

You only pay £40m+ if it's a player like Romero, VDV, Maddison etc. players you are sure will be a key part of your team, not a punt on a speedy boy with relatively average overall attributes.
