Good shout! Always like Neto at wolves.Yeah, Johnson, if we got him for £35m I'd be unbothered either way, but £50m is a pisstake. If that's what it takes to get him we should just forget it, save the cash for some other player in Jan or next summer.
I'm not advocating for Kolo Mouani either, I'm just saying I don't see a clear and obvious upgrade over Son in Brennan Johnson. I personally would have gone in hard for Bowen early in the window (probably wouldn't have been possible but worth a try).
If you want a specific name to go for now instead of Johnson, who might come for under £40m, I'd say Pedro Neto. Not a great finisher or crosser, but is otherwise so so good. Lighting fast, good touch, can turn with the ball, retain possession high up the pitch on his own against multiple tacklers, good one touch tiki taka play, and has energy to run around for 90 mins.
Under Nuno they used sit deep and hoof the ball into the wings in the 90th minutefor him to chase and hold the ball, just to cling on to their slim lead. He did it so so well.
Does everything Johnson does, but with that little extra bit of technical quality and finesse that catches your eye, expect the shooting...
Well for £50M you can’t expect all that! Still do t think his worth it. I’m sure there are much better players out there who probably can do all that and more and cost less. How about dribbling & link up...? The odd creative pass? ....Pressing/tackling?
Exactly! You don't get to do a lot of that when you are pushed up high and have the oppo squeezed into their third.
-00% need good technical players not speed merchants who can only operate running fromCounter-attacking vibes for me........
As I said earlier today..... Once teams start to sit off (which they will), I fear we'll need something different.
If Johnson was on the end of Richy's flick on in the first half Saturday then he'd have been clean through on goal. This is my issue too. With Jose or Conte, yes absolutely someone who could pelt 100mph up the wing would have been a godsend both in terms of attacking on the break, and also getting us up the field when under lots of pressure. However under Ange, with a much more possession-based style of football (thank god), how often are we going to really make use of that pace? Is he a particularly intelligent footballer? (Not needed at all by Conte, who really just wanted repetition learning robots with no brain, but crucial for all 11 in Ange's system). Seems a very strange one to me... :/
I like Neto and his stock has dropped considerably namely due to injuries but he could b a decent bargain deal for the right place.
Different profile, don't really watch enough of them to say who's better. Johnson's stats look really brutal, but he played in a team averaging 37% possession last season and creating less than 1xg per game. He's definitely a good PL player. Has some good traits, super quick, pretty strong, decent strike, works very hard, hg. I do think we need to sign somebody with his speed, whether it should be him or not I don't know. Hopefully he grows with the jump to a better team, but I'd be happier with a more high potential/better technical player. Is Brennan Johnson the signing of a future title challenging team? kinda doubt it.Doc
What are your thoughts on Brennan Johnson? Is he better than Awoniyi and Gibbs White?
Woolwich were quoted 50m for neto in April before prices wen crazierYeah, Johnson, if we got him for £35m I'd be unbothered either way, but £50m is a pisstake. If that's what it takes to get him we should just forget it, save the cash for some other player in Jan or next summer.

I still don't understand how we manged to keep the sell on when Vitoria sold him to Sporting. Not particularly convinced; just forgot we started off with 50% ownership....
Hurry up and sell him.![]()
Sure, I agree it does give us 'another aspect' - but I suspect one that we won't use often enough to warrant a regular place in the side (not to mention something approaching £50m to pay for it). I just can't help feel that if we want another option wide, then someone with a bit more craft and guile might be more useful than someone who appears to have little more than pace...If Johnson was on the end of Richy's flick on in the first half Saturday then he'd have been clean through on goal.
Definitely gives us another aspect.
Yes. Fast and direct like Maeda,Jota or Abada. Those guys had the end product but it was obviously against weaker opponents.Does he fit the mold of the guys he had on the wings at Celtic? ......Anyone?
Found this tweet amongst Forest fans quite interesting. Seems a lot of them would be happy to let him go which tbh is never a good sign. A lot of negative opinions on him in there.

Why? Our wage bill is much lower than peers and still the lowest revenue to wages ratio in the league. Moving on say Reguillon and Tanganga has no material impact on thatWe won't sign anyone until multiple players leave.
Until that happens, there's no point even talking about incoming players.
