We've changed 9 of our 11 starters from last season. Only Son and Kulu remain. I'm not sure that's standing still.

If Johnson & Gallagher are Ange's top targets and we are waiting until the 11th hour to put bids in for these players, my hunch is these aren't Ange's top targets.
Yes tosin and Orban would about £50M for both. Tosin is better than the other two CBs we have been linked with and Orban at 21 for the money is very low risk. Which then gives us money to dined big in jan or next summer. I have no idea why we don’t just go for these two. We have been linked with them all summer so the data work must have been done. Very disappoint if spend over £100M on Bn, Conor and Kelly!
The thing with Davies is that can play two roles. At the moment we have to keep him. Udogie is young and will need to be managed and if he gets injured we literally have no other cover unless Perisic drops in. Davies is also our only replacement for VDV given Dier is a shell of what he was.
It's not ideal but Davies' versatility and the fact that despite his limitations he can be trusted is what will keep him in the squad.
That's the same with any team. If 2 of your best players get injured, you in trouble. I think you would be hard pushed to find a team that achieved their targets in a season where there best players got injured. Just a fact of football.
Newcastle would be fucked without Bruno.
United would be fucked without their Bruno.
Liverpool would be fucked without Trent, VVD or Salah.
Woolwich would be fucked without Martinelli, Saka or Odegard.
