Well I was convinced all day it would be Johnson and that’s it. My view on what we’ve done - 5/10

Keeper - early days
VDV - Looks very good
Maddison - pure class, our Best Buy in years
Solomon - it’s a free, can’t grumble
Phillips and Veliz - fingers crossed at least one makes it
Brennan - I actually like him and think he is a tad underrated

Squad balance - faaaacking awful, we’re a CB injury away from a nightmare. If Udogie goes down we’re in the shit and Royal and Porro could not be more different.

Midfield - our most complete midfield options since the Poch golden age

Attack - poverty, absolute poverty. A load of 5/6 goals a season players unless Son finds his form again. Johnson though will give us better balance up there so maybe we will improve

They finished second, and improved their squad further (although the Havertz transfer was a total waste). They got unlucky with Timber ACL.

Anyway- we finished 8th so needed reinforcements far more than them. We sold our best player and didn't get a back up CB...
ah so our starting 11 is worse than last year is it?

Lloris

Royal Dier Romero Davies Perisic

Skipp Hojbjerg

Kulusevski Kane Son

Vicario

Porro Romero VDV Udogie

Bissouma Sarr Maddison

Kulu Richy Son.

Are you expecting we’ll pay some of them off?
Lloris yes, Ndombele I am sure we'll work on getting him to Turkey until their window closes at the very least, Dier we'll see.

I will be very, very mad if we do something like leave Bryan Gil out of the squad in order to make a place for Dier as the CB cover we need for failure to do other business. (We have one unclaimed HGP spot, and it will be two if Harvey White goes)

That would be an unequivocal slap in Ange's face, and a poison grenade thrown into the dressing room whose fumigation is the entire mission of the coming months.

We buy out the contracts of both Lloris and Dier tonight, I am more content.

I don’t want to see Hojbjerg, Dier or Sanchez play for this team ever again. I’ve never disliked our own players as much as this before
Dier, yes.

PEH has been fine in his sub appearances. I would have preferred we swap him for Gallagher but he’s a backup now, which is what he is.

Sanchez gets far too much hate and he’s been nothing but professional here. He’ll be gone after next season.

asks mr bean GIF

We seem to be landing more hits than misses lately, which is nice. Early days but yeah, him, Vicario and Maddison seem to be settling in well early.

Udogie + Bissouma have .. and I hate this cliche but it seems appropriate, been like new signings.

There are positives. So I won’t say we’ve had a shit window. But I will say it feels short of being a good one.
Very fair.

If I were to put a positive spin on this window (runs for cover), I will say that not many teams that are even in Europe have quality back up CB's. Granted ours are shite and have been at the club far too long, but we're not in Europe. Obviously we're desperately hoping Romero and VDV don't get injured or suspended (unlikely) but we have made some progress.

Shifting the crap has been our biggest issue, and honestly that is largely down to clubs simply not being arsed to try and negotiate with Levy.

Far from a great window, but also not a total disaster. Assuming of course we evaluate in January and then crucially next summer when we are hopefully back in Europe.

Levy's a cunt. Maddison's fully COYS.

Up the fucking Spurs.
We aren't accustomed to how few fixtures we actually have to fulfill until January, that much is true.

But of course, I have a bridge to sell you if you think we'll have any reinforcements through the door before Bissouma and Sarr have to leave for AFCON in early January.
