Yeah him too. I mean we have spent way over the 100 million we got for Kane. That’s close to 150 million. What the hell are they crying about ?
So without selling Kane we would have no money to spend on players ?

The point is the kane sale should have added to our transfer budget not be solely responsible for our transfer budget.

Hope this helps you understand what people are “crying” about.

6/10

Was this a top-notch transfer window? No.
But we can't expect a rebuild to be done in one transfer window alone.

Of course, it sucks we didn't get an extra CB. That is what takes this window down to a 6 (from an 7/8) for me. However, there are a lot of positives to take from this window:
- Madders provides desperately needed offensive skills in midfield
- We got a challenger for Deki with Brennan coming in. (It might even be a possibility to play Deki in Madders' position if Lo Celso isn't up for the task)
- VDV seems like a great fit - though the transfer took way too long and seems to be somewhat expensive
- We got two new exciting prospects in Veliz and Phillips
- A new goalkeeper that won't be having the mental breakdowns that Lloris have been executing the last three seasons

Of course, we didn't off-load players like Dier, Sanchez and Ndombele, but if they won't take the bait we can't force them to leave.
Also, I don't understand why people so desperately wanted us to sign a new midfielder. We are stacked in midfield with Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur, Skipp and PEH. And the people complaining about the latter need to take it down a notch. PEH is probably the one player giving his everything in every match, so if there's anyone who is able to adapt to a new system, it's him.

On a final note, I know we all hate that a lot of the deals are done at the end of the window. It doesn't help the squad. However, we know this is how Levy works and this is not going to change.

For me, this window is approved. It could have been better but a rebuild takes at least three windows, so we're off to an acceptable start.

This situation with players basically refusing to move on, even when they know there is no chance for them here. Got me thinking. In what other workplace environment could you do this ?

I have volunteered for some (easy) overtime this morning, Couple of hours drive, hour on site (all being well) and back home for Saturday brunch (is that still a thing)..

So, what I am going to do is email my manager tell him I don't fancy doing the overtime now, even though the customer will have made arrangement for my visit. But, I am still going to take my pay.. I may also not even bother turning up next week. Will let you know how I get on..

Footballers really do live in a completely different working world to the rest of us lot.
It's absolutely nothing like that though is it?

If you want to create an everyday workplace scenario to compare it to, it's as though your employer handed you a guaranteed contract fir 5 years employment and decided 3 or 4 years in that they no longer wanted to use you, and are now acting offended that you won't save them some money by moving on to an inferior employer with inferior facilities, in order to save them some money.

What you've outlined would be akin to these guys refusing to play for us when called upon, and whatever you can say about them, I don't think any of them have done that.

We really fucked up on the CB thing, actually pathetic that we only really have Romero and VDV to be relied upon.

It’s sad as the rest of the window is ok. We knew Kane was off, we got Maddison for creativity, got two wide forwards in Solomon and Johnson, got the goalie so overall
Improved some areas.

We needed 2/3 CB’s for the high line and we got only VDV as a senior player. Even just 1 more half decent back up for VDV and we have enough to say we are in a good place. Now we are hoping VDV is fit till at least Jan as we have nothing suitable to cover. I don’t get why such a huge risk has been taken by the club.

You said, "explain to me how according to your chart that once again we have a higher net spend than City and Liverpool?"

My answer was FFP.

There really isn't much more to it.

That's not an explanation, that's a statement - you've just used another transfer window buzz word to make yourself sound clever.

So what about FFP? Are you saying that we have 'spent' more because we followed the FFP guidelines, do we have more room for manoeuvrability in our spending, have the other teams breached FFP so they cannot spend as much?

You ought to explain yourself because I don't get it.

Insane to think we turned down a £9m bid for Sanchez and ended up not selling him. Could likely have signed somebody like Bella Kotchap for less than 25m.

Richalrison and Son will be our CF’s with Veliz as backup. Sadly we were always going to downgrade on Kane. Not much that can be done on that.
Agree that it was always going to be a downgrade but you can try to replace him, even if it wasnt a big target man no 9 type.. We seemingly just shrugged our shoulders even though everyone knows Richarlison isnt a natural striker and he has no goalsciring pedigree and Sons form has been off since May 2022.

not many out there. Maybe could have signed Toney but the. It’s a wait till he can play again

Yeah I don't get this fucking club sometimes, we waited for so long to secure another CB - we had a bid from Rennes for Dav we just have just accepted, now he's going to go on a free unless he leaves in January - maybe Ange thinks he can work with him, we just have to hope that our first choice CB's gets through the season with 0 injuries

By the way the reaction in here when we were linked to Lloyd Kelly was just plain weird, he's literally the same profile as Tosin and he's clearly a data driven pick, would have been fine as 3rd choice for Ange's system.
