Considering we have 2 of the best centrebacks in the Premiership we leak goals and silly goals because with inverted fullbacks VDV and CR have to cover the fullbacks. That weakens us in central defence so we need a really good defensive midfield player to help them out. That will allow our attacking players more licence to get forward.
if you do that why not play 3 CH's

They have Mitoma , Minteh, Adringa amd sarmiento already who are tricky ball carrying wingers.

Think they might cash in on Mitoma if this is true.
sorry I forgot they also signed that young kid from gooner scum thats meant to be shit hot. They're definitely selling someone.

It also got me thinking about ball carrying attacking players that can beat their man and how vital it is. Brighton now have 5 in their squad ffs (6 actually because pedro can also do that).

City have Doku and Oscar Bobb

Woolwich Saka and Martinelli

Liverpool Jota and Diaz

Newcastle Gordon and Almiron

Chelsea Neto, Madueke, Mudryk and Palmer/sterling at a push

United Garnacho and Amad

Spammer Bowen, Kudus, Summerville and that Brazilian winger they just signed.

You need at least 2 and we have zero ffs (son at a push and Moore but I mean he's a kid). Johnson is better running onto the ball, same with Werner and Kulu is better with ball at feet but doesn't have necessary pace.

With no real links to anyone in particular, it looks like the club are, still waiting on some movement with Eze.
Levy is gambling on palace folding, going into the final week. If not then, a scramble to get someone in last minute will take place.

Would someone like to update where the squad currently stands wrt HG & CT?
Spursidol Spursidol keeps an up to date snapshot in the first post at:

As I understand it we're fine for HG but only have 2 CT. As a result we will have to leave 3 of our current players out of the Euro squad. And we will only have a 23 man squad for Euro.

Which means we should probably sell or loan out 3 more (not Skipp as HG), rather than keeping them as 3rd- or 4th in line depth for domestic games only, which would mean virtually no playing time for them.

If we bring in one or two more upgrades then that would give us one or two more to shift.

Palace don’t need the money, do not want to sell under any circumstance, will not lower the price or lower the up front fee, do not have any FFP restrictions. Why would Levy think they would ’fold’ to sell their most important player?

If you don't recognise that goals and assists win games then football is 100% not the sport for you.
Try ice dancing.
Yes, the game is won by scoring more goals than your opponent as a team.

What good is it if Son, Solanke and Johnson put up good stats but we come 6th?

The reality is no matter what the stats tell you about all of our attacking players last season, we clearly lacked something up there in our build up play.

Johnson isn’t a great presser, isn’t a particularly good tracker of runnners, doesn’t beat a man one on one and isn’t great at retaining the ball under pressure. All this matters even when assessing goals and assists.

Like Son, he’s an elite off ball runner and has been really effective at that. Unfortunately, having 2 wide players with the same limitations is extremely limiting, again, for the team.

20% of our goals and assists or not, we need a different profile of a player in the wide areas. They may not get 20% of our goals and assists, but if they improve the team and push us up the table (which the right player would absolutely do) it really doesn’t matter.

A good example of this was Firminho for liverpool in their pomp. They could have upgraded his goal output at any time, but what he brought to the team was more important than individual stats.

I’ve used the term before but simply saying “he got 20 of our goals and assists” is reductive.

What matters is what the team needs to make us better.
