I can see Eze receiving the ball off the CBs absolutely. It wasn't Maddison's game before he came here either. I could even see Eze playing 8 as well as 10 and have thought that about him for some time. He's played centrally plenty for Palace, he just has the pure footballing ability to play pretty much anywhere you need him.

I also think he could end up winning the starting role from Maddison for the biggest games, depending on tactical fit. If we want to really challenge we need competition for every position. But we have been through this before.

Let's save ourselves time and agree that a winger with 1v1 ability is a higher priority and we should use Kulusevski as the main AM rotation for Maddison for now if we aren't spending 70m on Eze. I would want us to sign Eze, you wouldn't. That's not a big deal though. I lean towards profile fit in terms of ability to play the way we want instead of profile fit for positional specialism. Obviously there are exceptions to that i.e., CB, FB, GK etc...

Hmm okay agree to disagree, we need to put all our efforts into signing a 1v1 winger, ridiculous we're still even talking about this at this stage,

I like Davies -not a flashy player but to me he is a solid 6-7/10 when called upon and happy to be a squad player - could we improve on him? yes however i wouldn't put it as a priority , more worried about Udogie & Son backups
He’s a solid player and if was playing for Fulham and Brentford in a low or mid block with lots of protection he’d be fine. For us, with the CBs on the halfway line he’s all wrong. He’s also not great with the ball as a CB too.

Yeah that's good to hear but it's time for action not column inches from beat reporters.

They must have had other options than Neto if they decided 50m was too rich for Levy's blood. There were rumours of a Kubo bid very early in the summer and Doue interest after that but if they were also too expensive, surely they have been sounding out a deal for the 4th name down the list?

I guess the issue now is persudaing the 4th name on your list that YOU really want HIM. We always talk about making sure the player wants Spurs, now we need to hope we can sell a vision to the player at this stage of the window. Or we end up with a mercenary option like Chiesa who will work for the best offer.

This is where you make your money Lange. So far, I’m highly underwhelmed by him.
Thing is he’s delivering on the prospects. The squad is now looking full of young talent. He’s also done well on shifting unwanted players in a stagnant market. But the plan was clearly to get in at least two PL-ready players who wouldn’t need to adapt.

If we have spent the summer kicking Eze’s tyres hoping Palace somehow decide they’ll reduce the fee it’s just been such waste of time. As soon as they lost Olise it was blindingly obvious they wouldn’t need to sell, and only the release clause would do.

You sound a little confused in your thinkinng here.

Almost as if you want to blame Levy for anything that could even possibly go wrong.

They got twitchy towards the club that's what we want. That puts the pressure on the club.

How are you struggling to understand that?

Ange hasn't been trophyless for 20+ years, he's only just got here. Ange wasn't responsible for the mess that our squad was when he got here.
I give Levy and the club credit for bringing Ange and building a new structure but the pressure for success has to stay firmly aimed at them too.

I saw online that Lange was specifically brought in to help with the HG "issue."

Plan was to bring in English talent (Gallagher, Eze, Solanke etc) but also buy great young talent who will become HG in future (Gray, Bergvall) and get rid of talent who weren't suited and taking up a foreign spot.

But I'm not sure I believe that. Gallagher was linked before he got here and I think the plan to bring in great young talent was Paraticis ideas.

I love that we're now at the stage of denying any position in the squad is lacking, because "Gray can play there".

Kids gonna be fucking knackered playing all these games at cb, rb, cm..

He'll be our back up to Vicario before long!

Fairly sure if Ange absolutely shit the bed you would blame ENIC though. 🤷‍♂️

The season starts this weekend & we’ve only made 1 signing which will make a difference to the first 11. We needed about 5/6 players this summer & as usual it looks like Levy will leave the squad short once again.

Meanwhile we need to stop letting Lange work in silence, those voices in his head clearly aren’t helping him make the right decisions for the club.
The one signing really means two as besides getting a centre forward we also get a much better left wing in Son.

Yeah I dunno. Dragusin and Bergvall were coups, I think we overpaid for Gray but I suppose the youth signings are very important.

It’s just, to mine eye we seem to have identified the most basic and obvious set of 4 targets in the world: Eze, Neto, Solanke, Gallagher. It takes about one weekend watching PL football to identify them 4. We’ve wasted all window on them and it’s now obvious that we’ll be walking away with only one of them. Stinks of naïveté. Something we’d do under Redknapp. Or perhaps we’re listening to Ange too closely?
