People do it all the time with young players. The same way people go on about Devine and Mikey Moore in preseason saying they are going to play loads of games in the PL etc etc
They end up going on loan to Swindon for a year instead. Fans always get giddy and then they realise quite quickly that actually the kids aren't ready and we need to wait a year or two at least for any consistent impact.
It's so unrealistic to expect Bergvall and Gray to make any consistent impact this season. We are battling side like City and Woolwich who have proven top quality players and Spurs fans seriously think Gray, Bergval and Odobert are the answer to closing the gap. No wonder Levy always gets away with it, the club can serve any old tripe up in a window and fans just lap it up.
We needed to be doing what United are doing this summer, plugging the gaps with senior players that will improve the first 11, Ugarte, De Ligt, Maz, Zirkzee etc
So where does that leave us this season as a side when basically all our big signings are kids? Nowhere. We simply can't rely on them to improve the side this year, that's my whole point. So where is the improvement going to come from? Look around the squad and we are basically relying on the same players as last year + Solanke.
My whole point was we should have been signing players as an example, like Neto, Eze, Gomes plus the kids, not just the kids. How anyone can sit here now and say yeah great window are just delusional.
The sad thing is it only really needed us to swap the signing of Werner for a Neto or Eze, and then add a starting quality CM, throw the kids on top and it is a great window. But as ever the club leaves us well short.
I don’t think Son has ever been a top class touchline winger. Age isn’t the biggest issue, ability is.As if we will get some big name. Not happy with johnson or son being the starting wingers ones old and the other can barely control a football. Son passes backwards more then taking on opposition now.
So what do we net from that, something in the £5m range? Not bad although I think they arguably could’ve got more for him.
I don't think it's the case of fan's lapping it up , it's just expectations, we go thro this every window and it's surprising it seems Levy is not going to back this manager , but we still as fans got to get on with it, this is the way the club is and there nothing we can do about itPeople do it all the time with young players. The same way people go on about Devine and Mikey Moore in preseason saying they are going to play loads of games in the PL etc etc

Yeah, let's sign an injury-prone Neto for £60m, chuck another £65m (most up front) on Eze, £65m for Solanke and then also spend £80m on youngsters too. Brilliant! Why did nobody at the club think of that? Why did Ange not throw a hissy fit to get them?People do it all the time with young players. The same way people go on about Devine and Mikey Moore in preseason saying they are going to play loads of games in the PL etc etc

Let's put a stop to fans getting excited by new transfers.I don't think it's the case of fan's lapping it up , it's just expectations, we go thro this every window and it's surprising it seems Levy is not going to back this manager , but we still as fans got to get on with it, this is the way the club is and there nothing we can do about it
we still going to go
So you think Bergvall and Gray will not have an impact this year?
So you expected we would challenge the top 2 this season?? And the only reason we won't is because the club is too stingy to buy first XI players? They make have an impact, they certainly aren't going to get us any closer to challenging the top 2. It's delusional to think they will. They are kids. Best we can hope for is some good potential on display, some good performances but them alone will ne nowhere near enough.
Far more likely is they will play, make some mistakes and spend most of the season on the bench and probably go again next year. That's just being realistic.
That's the spirit.Maybe not because we have Europa league this season so he might get some games, but if we go out of cups early well he isn't going to get any minutes in the PL.
You know what I mean though. Every year people go on about academy kids getting games and making an impact, they never do.
Who wants to be realistic? They make have an impact, they certainly aren't going to get us any closer to challenging the top 2. It's delusional to think they will. They are kids. I'm not saying I'm ecstatic at our transfer business, but we do have a pretty competent scouting department and manager, and I'm willing to see how the squad building plays out. And I'm not knee jerking after one game which, if we had put our chances away and won comfortably like we should have, would have you and everyone singing a completely different tune right now.
The Clarke fee doesn’t cover half of the release money that N’Dombele chomped through this summer.
