Complete farce. When they explode and it will happen, it will be the greatest show on earth.

"Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within Stamford Bridge?!"
There’s something fundamentally confrontational about how they are behaving at the moment. They’ve either accepted they’re getting punished or think there is no chance of it ever happening.

Bentancur played double pivot in Conte ball which is basically x2 #6s.

Bissouma didn't start 28 games that season. Appearances is deceptive. He was also very good for more than just 10 games last year. After AFCON and Malaria and injuries, when he finally got some rhythm he had some very good performances. Last year was freakish for disruptions for him.
It really really isn’t. It’s literally a completely different role. Conte does not play with a DM/6. Conte doesn’t play through midfield at all.

Do you honestly think Bissouma is good enough to build our midfield around? Like genuinely? What other top 6 team would he get into? He wouldn’t get into any team serious about winning anything.

I think he's one of the best #6s in the prem when he's fully in form and there isn't another #6 on the market this summer who would be a player we could build our midfield around.

“one of the best 6’s in the league” I would really love to know what this is based on? Like genuinely what am I missing?

There’s plenty on the market. However finding one we would be willing to spend the money to get? Different story.

At his best he wins the ball back, tackles, carries the ball against the press and makes us tick.

who is better that is on the market? and don't come with some fanciful Onana rubbish. He was even more inconsistent than Bissoum this year but without the excuse of AFCON or ridiculous reds and suspensions.

I am not saying Bissouma is perfect. He does have flaws (but for this remit I don't think they are big). We could possibly find a 6 with a more specialist skill set (ie Palhina defensively) But I think his all round skill set - and match with our system - would be hard to recruit easily.

The alternative is to do what Arteta has done this season, where he's used Partey (for tough games for his defending), Jorginho occasionally for his distribution and Rice occasionally as a kind of hybrid.

Just to back up my "on the eye" opinion, here is some metrics for comparison with the 6's above us in the league and a couple of others people have said they'd like.

The good thing with the Werner loan is he won't clutter the squad if we don't want him at the end of the season.

Obviously Ange did want to see more of him, but we shouldn't end up in a position like we are in with Ndombele, Gil, Lo Celso and many more previously where we simply can't shift them.

The getting rid of him part is already dealt with. No 3-5 years of salary obligations. If it were allowed, having players on 1 year contracts with exponential optional extensions would justify paying much higher wages.
But he clutters up any area where Ange we needed improving. Unless we get rid of some we are gonna have timo, Johnson, kulu , richi and Sonny still in our attack next season. Now reports are saying we will get at least one more attacker. Which means just one more. Now depends who it is but is there much improvement in that forward line.we needed a quality wide player and a CF. We now have timo plus one more.

Whilst true, he's more useful than Gil or Solomon if they get shifted on or not registered.

If we didn't bring him in we were never going to go and spend £100+ million on a couple of forwards both better than Werner anyway, not when we also need to spend 40+ on a midfielder and 30+ on a fullback too.

Not suggesting it happens for a second but...

Option 1
Isak
Eze
Gallagher
Geertruida
Murillo

Would that transfer window make us title contenders?
Nope.

Option 2
Gyokeres
Doue
Gallagher
Doue 2
Murillo

What does that transfer window make next season look like?
Top 4-5.

Ps: we need to stop with Gallagher. The lad is Chelsea through and through. His whole family is Chelsea til they die. Why on earth would we ever want a guy who obviously dislikes us, as the very vast majority of chavs do. No way he'd ever give his all for Spurs. Absolute lunacy.
