Replacing Harry Kane with a striker from the Championship would have gone down a treat I'm sure.

That's a shout in hindsight, playing in a shit league in Portugal doesn't really translate to the Prem.

It was a hypothetical argument to counter your view that there were no good strikers available .
Were we/are we going to get a striker as good as Kane? No but that’s not the right question to ask now. The question we should be asking, is can we buy a striker who is better and more suited to the system we now play and the answer is obviously yes

I didn't say anything about their being "no good strikers on the market" My point was that you're arguing in hindsight because you don't know how Gyökeres would have turned out for Spurs because playing for Sporting and scoring against Estoril in a shite league is one thing and playing for Spurs and replacing him with the clubs greatest ever player and scorer in the Prem era is another.

Furthermore buying a striker who is more suited to the system will happen under this manager because this is a project, just because it didn't happen straight away doesn't mean it's a failure of epic proportions, it means that other areas were in specific need of addressing and that was proved right because we ended up scoring more without Kane anyway.

Never said it was easy but we haven’t even tried. Richarlison was never brought in as a Kane replacement and you know it

Again you're misquoting me, I didn't say anything about Richy being bought in as a Kane replacement, you said that strikers are expensive and ENIC are cheap but the Richy transfer is a complete contradiction of your claims, the ENIC cheap thing doesn't wash especially when you're referencing Gyökeres who cost Sporting £20m.

Less about cost, more about strategy.

You said who could we possibly replace Kane with last summer and I gave you an example. Obviously it’s easier with hindsight but the guy at Coventry had a very good season in the championship and was highly rated.

That’s not the point I was trying to make.
Wether it Gyokeres or whoever we should have tried to replace Kane and suggesting there has been no strikers available to do this for 3 transfer windows is laughable and the only reason we haven’t is because strikers are expensive and ENIC are cheap

End of the day we scored more goals without Kane.

Our issue is forwards but not 100% because of a striker to score goals

How many strikers have we spent good money on in the ENIC era? Soldado Richy not many more

Copy and paste jobs tend not to work in football.

Just because he's a hit in the Portugese league doesn't mean he would have been a hit in the Prem, completely different league, completely different pressures, you're just arguing in hindsight, we can all do that.

There's a striker at Blackburn who tore up the Championship last season for example, I don't see anyone pining for him even though he smashed it :p

No you are completely missing the point.
I watch MOTD and spurs matches pretty much.
I’m the worst person to say who we should or shouldn’t be buying because outside of the premier league I don’t have a clue.
I used the Coventry guy as an example of someone the club should have been looking at.
As I said before we have a network of scouts and football people who are payed good money to find good players to buy for our club and the idea that there is nobody out there to improve on what we have in our budget is ridiculous

You said ENIC are not cheap when buying strikers because we brought Richy for 60m.
I’m asking how many other strikers have we spent good money on in 25 year of ENIC

Oh goody another ENIC debate. :D

Well 25 years spanning ENIC's ownership and conflating it all together is pointless, like for example comparing first 5 years to the last 5 years is completely night and day.

Despite all this I don't get your point if you're referencing the fact that they didn't buy a striker last year because they were being cheap is nonsense because a) There was strikers on the market well within their price range that we could have bought but we didn't bite - that's nothing to do with price or being 'cheap', that's down to strategy.

The same network of scouts that did some pretty amazing business last Summer and bought in players like Vic, VDV, Drag etc..., you can bet that they looked at the market and thought Nah...

So we either trust the scouts or we don't, they're either doing a good job or they aren't...you need to pick an argument.
