We can spend big and spend well - not every deal has to be valueWe spent £60m on Ndombele
We spent considerably less on Udogie
Who has been better value?
It is NOT about the amount spent. It’s about proper scouting and being prepared to go hard for the players identified.
That’s it.
There’s no argument you can come back with that will prove that wrong so don’t even bother.
Consider this doneski.
Oh and ‘patronising weasel’? You speak to me the way you just did toAirfixx and you will fucking well regret it.

Some rumours flying about Romero to Real Madrid. If they come knocking, I'm sure he will be tempted. Who wouldn't be?
They need to pay a hell of a lot of money to pry him off or hands that's for sure. But if it happens, who will we replace him with.
Tapsoba? How has his season been? Can he play in the right?
What was the name of that defender in the French League, with a doubtful attitude, used to belong to Barcelona. How has hise season been?
Who else might be considered?

Agree -my point is if the data guys want someone like Oshimen, Ange wants him and he’s going to cost 120M, will we back them to augment the other excellent value signingsIF the right player is scouted and deemed a good fit then yes.
So long as the transfers prove to be successful, I don’t care.
But that’s the key point - successful.
This isn’t fucking football manager. Just coz us spending a ton of money would give you a tiny boner, doesn’t mean it’s right.
I’ll judge each transfer on how the players get on, not how much was spent on them.

I assumed that's why we are being linked with more defenders. RM are a bitch to deal with but hopefully previous levy interactions make them know not to bother. Some rumours flying about Romero to Real Madrid. If they come knocking, I'm sure he will be tempted. Who wouldn't be?

I’m not convinced we will splash out for the right player….Yeah I've got no issue with that.
But obviously it's nice to finally have a scouting system that seems to be working for us.
As with most things in life...balance. Splash out when the right player is there, but getting those value signings in are just as, if not more important.
We're not a million miles away from each other on this.

I hope you are right
If Real M. wants a player they'll get him almost no matter the fee (but I am not saying Romero is their target).25 years old, not even at his peak with 3 years still to run. It would cost them an absolute fortune. 100 mill at least. Dont see that happening
be a great signing for them though to be fair

I’ve heard very good things about both when I was perusing Belgian league stuff for Orban.![]()

I think this is true as we are now pretty much assured of CL or EL placing and need a decent sized squad of quality players for either.
But that does not mean we need to or will spend 100m (or even close) on any one player.
Mbappe says hello. They have been after him for years. They no longer have ultimate buying power They had to wait out the Nija Turtels contract and would have too for Romero. That means we have him for two and a half more seasons minimum, by which time we will have knocked them out of the ECL on our way to winning it. Bothered not botheredIf Real M. wants a player they'll get him almost no matter the fee (but I am not saying Romero is their target).
Ange is just keeping the seat warm for Allardyce. Big Ange to Big Sam.
You have a lot less skin in the game and shouldn’t be part of the debate. You don’t pay the highest ticket prices in the world therefore have lower expectations - that’s understandable
Don’t brand people morons for having different expectations you patronising weasel - some of us want more than 1 league cup in 25 years and blindly sticking to a low cost, but well scouted transfer strategy is unlikely to deliver (albeit a massive improvement on prior years when Levy was repeatedly making disastrous buying decisions and writing off season after season)
