Okay so back to the point, signing a backup for Maddison won't determine whether this club is serious or not.

I said "competition for Maddison" in that post.
That's not back up.
We need someone good enough to make Maddison the back up if he's not fit or on form.
We can afford to bench Bentancur until he finds form because we have Sarr who might end up a better player, if he isn't already.
That's what we need for Maddison because it doesn't look like he will ever be fit and on form enough for us to ever win things.

Because that’s what I’m saying. He wasn’t good enough last night and as much as I love the player he can be when fit and on form, I’m not sure that he’s ever going to be fit and on form long enough for us to really challenge.
Because like I have been saying providing competition to Maddison won't be the difference in whether we win or not.

We need a top striker. No risk hoping it will come good striker. A top striker guaranteed to slot in. Veliz will come good and good as back up. But we need to replace kane.
