The other big miss was at CB where the club left the manager short in the summer. They did sign Dragusin in January so CBs aren’t as big of a priority imo but maybe Ange also wants a LCB.

Fair enough and wouldnt disagree with that but as ever our resources wont cover everything we need so its about priorities. Guess its open to debate what those priorities are.I’m not suggesting we sign a back up. I’m saying we need to sign a starter that can stay fit and in form.
Okay so back to the point, signing a backup for Maddison won't determine whether this club is serious or not.

Paulinha got booked for another hack on Maddison's ankle as well. I'd be surprised if he's fit for the next game.
Maddison is a fantastic player and really makes us tick when he's fit and at it. I'm not sure that's ever going to be for enough games in a season for us to win things. People can say what they like about Kulusevski but he's built for Premier League football and learned that ability from Kane to just always be available. Hojberg learned it as well. Question is can Maddison learn to manage his body as well.
Yeah, running about as fast as most footballers walk probably helps with that.
That’s what we need, a team of Hojbjergs and Kulusevski’s.
Transfers - Summer Transfer thread - 2024
We need 2 wide players that can keep the ball and offer a consistent threat. We need a striker that can bring others into the game who can play with his back to goal. We have straight line front men who can’t come in and link play and create, shoot, make a chance for themselves consistently. It...thefightingcock.co.uk
something something slow, ssomething something right foot. the basic bitch of football analysis strikes again.
Go and buy a greggs sausage roll and drink a can of monster (I really miss Greggs sausage rolls).
I said "competition for Maddison" in that post.
That's not back up.
We need someone good enough to make Maddison the back up if he's not fit or on form.
We can afford to bench Bentancur until he finds form because we have Sarr who might end up a better player, if he isn't already.
That's what we need for Maddison because it doesn't look like he will ever be fit and on form enough for us to ever win things.
No it doesn't. I've been on this forum for how long and you haven't made a point that stood once,
HeyRichard Arlison who are Odegaard's and Szoboszlai's competition at their respective clubs?
Then either Maddison needs to be fit and in form as much as odourguard or we need to replace him.
But tbh Maddison is better than not on form or not.
Probably woolwich and Liverpool need to sign some competition for both if they want to really compete with City
A massive contradiction followed by the usual mental gymnastics, yeah well done.
What is your point? What are you actually saying other than trying to be clever opposing other peoples posts.
Let’s try this:
Was Maddison good enough last night?
Have you seen enough from him to be confident that we can win things if he’s our main creative option?
Because that’s what I’m saying. He wasn’t good enough last night and as much as I love the player he can be when fit and on form, I’m not sure that he’s ever going to be fit and on form long enough for us to really challenge.
We need a top striker. No risk hoping it will come good striker. A top striker guaranteed to slot in. Veliz will come good and good as back up. But we need to replace kane.Because like I have been saying providing competition to Maddison won't be the difference in whether we win or not.
I bought up those examples because those no10's don't really have competition and you have said that he's better than those players so he's more than good enough in that case?
