Do people actually want Conor Gallagher?

Who wouldn't? Head and shoulders above the likes of Skipp and Hojbjerg. Great age. Proven in the Premier League. 50 million is also a perfectly reasonable price all things considered. But it wouldn't be a signing that would make you knock one out at home like an Eze or a Sesko. Just a solid, sensible signing.

There isn't a manager in the Premier League that wouldn't like Conor Gallagher in their squad, as much for his attitude and character than his ability.

The opposite of Jack of all trades actually.

He's clearly a master of pressing and winning the ball back. And very good at shooting.

Not as great at pinging passes around the place. That Sudakov we were linked to looks like an unreal passer of the ball. MGW can pass as well as having a similar engine to Gallagher
Master of pressing and tackling sure, but we already have midfielders who are very capable at that (Bentancur / Sarr) and who are better than him technically.

Very good at shooting I strongly disagree with. If anything he is very good at popping up in decent positions and then missing his shot. Comes up with an ocassional goal but nothing at all to write home about.

For £50m I just don't think he solves enough problems for us tbh.

He scored 7 goals last season in all competitions.

Our 7 midfielders managed 10 goals between them.

He managed 9 assists in all competitions. Which is more than all of our midfielders put together when you take out Maddison.

He's quite clearly a significant upgrade on what we have. He's just easy to dislike because he plays for Chelsea and isn't too aesthetically pleasing on the eye (Parker was the same).

Saying that, I don't think we'll sign him and he's clearly not interested in signing for us. I would much rather someone like Ederson

Reckon there's a 7% chance we sign Gallagher
very Specific?

seems almost certain to me. He's not signing a new contract or he'd have done it already.

Only thing that might play is cheatski flipping a bunch of academy kids early in the window.

Ederson on the other hand has never blown me away at all. I know he played well in the SF and Final of Europa but I'm just not sure about him. Also feels like a Paratici link and I'm expecting Lange to be looking to make more of a mark this window.

Gallas played for us, Woolwich and Chelsea.

Adebayor also played for both us and Woolwich.

Campbell a was home grown, once in a generation talent who left us on a Bosman for our biggest rival and won multiple trophies with them. He was completely unforthcoming about his desire to leave the club and gave us the impression that he was open to signing a new deal. He disregarded everything he was taught by the club and manipulated the situation to line his own pockets. He was "one of our own" and he rejected that status in the most offensive way possible.

The Sol Campbell situation is a completely different universe to a non-home grown player moving between the London clubs. It was the ultimate scalp for our rival and I have absolutely no reservations about inflicting a similar injury on Chelsea because they would do the same thing to us if the situation were reversed.

Let's not focus too much on the fact he left us for free.

Because it's bigger than that.
One of the best CB's of the 90's and 00's played for Spurs, Arse, Pompey, Notts County*, Arse and Newcastle. And not once, not one fucking time did a club get a fee from him.
He lied to us. He lied to Woolwich. He lied to Pompey and he lied to Notts County to get freebie moves and line his pockets.

He is the very definition of a greedy narcissistic football who will stab anyone in the back to help himself.
Judas really is one of the most applicable nicknames I've ever heard.

Problem is that as a jack of all trades and master of none, he will get absolutely slated if he was to come play CM for Spurs and show a lack of technique under pressure or misplacing not terribly difficult passes (both of which he is liable to do). He is essentially another 'passion merchant' type player who the usual suspects here absolutely loathe; basically a defensive upgrade on Hojbjerg but has the same hallmarks as him in an on-the-ball sense.

As much as I think he would be useful for his pressing and tackling, I think we would soon be underwhelmed by his impact in an attacking sense. I do love a tryer though, so if we were to sign him I'm sure I'd quickly take to him.
I want someone capable of putting in 6 or 7 out of 10 as a minimum every week, and I think he's up to that.
What we have now is a collection of mids who can swing from a 9 to a 3 week to week.

Just don't see it happening. He'll have other suitors and if there was a choice, he isn't picking Tottenham with him being Chelsea

They don't even need to sell.

Whereas I've always been quite impressed. He's definitely not a 6 however.

Hmmm

Chelsea are dodgy and the news is mixed. Not trusting anything yet.

Gallagher still hasn't signed a new contract yet. Why would you let your club captain get into his last year if you aren't looking to cash in.

Too much smoke to be no fire IMO.

Agree with you there on Ederson. Certainly not a 6 but I don't think we are singing a 6 tbh.
