He was a very good finisher before PSG. I think there’s a player in there.
When was that?! At Nantes he scored 9 in 37 then 12 in 36. His record in the lower leagues in France is even less impressive.

He had a solid season with Eintracht in the Bundesliga...15 in 32...but that league is easier to score in than the PL, it's a fact.

One good goalscoring season out of 6 and a bit as a pro footballer. Somehow that doesn't fill me with confidence. Especially cause whenever I've seen him play for PSG and he's in front of goals, you can tell the kid is still haunted by that crazy miss in the WC Final, when he picked the worst option of the lot...doesn't scream killer instinct or top footy IQ to me.

If we signed him, it's gotta be to play RW and don't expect him to score more than 10 in the league. Not saying he's not capable by the way...you just never know in the right system and environment, right coaching etc. But nothing he's done so far justifies the "very good finisher" tag.

How do you want me to bring you evidence that Ivan Toney is better than Danny Ings, look at their scoring records over the past few seasons, actually watch matches, there's levels between them.

What a weird comparison.

Also all this we need a top striker to put us over the edge and win silverware is so overplayed - Woolwich literally played Havertz as a ST and were literally a game away from winning the league, Liverpool played Nunez up front all season who couldn't hit a barn door and ended up winning a cup and mounting a title challenge.

In fact go and look at our rivals strikers (apart from City) they're all have major flaws to their game, I'm convinced people have just been spoilt by having Kane in the team for so long to the point that they think that we're gonna have him replaced with a direct comparison to him.

A striker in our system doesn't even need to be that great anyway, just needs to be able to convert and hold the ball up, Richy got what 11 goals last season and how many of them did he need to create himself, probably 1, most of his goals he was just in the right position to put them away and Toney is a better striker than Richarlison.
I'll clarify by what I meant as the "next Danny Ings" is that at 28 he's approximately the same place Danny Ings was.

At the age of 27, Danny Ings scored 22 with 2 assists in 2804 PL minutes with Southampton for a goal involvement every 117 minutes.

At the age of 26, Ivan Toney scored 20 with 4 assists in 2951 PL minutes with Brentford for a goal involvement every 123 minutes.

Richarlison's Shots on Target % and Shots on Target/90 are all significantly higher than any mark Toney has ever made in the PL. Richie's G/shot figure is also significantly better. And he's a year younger. Not that I think Richie is great - but why would we want a slightly older, slightly poorer model.

We need to sign someone younger and better than Toney. Toney will be playing for Boro in 3 years.

Liverpool sniffing around as well.

Seems like a player that Spurs fans would think isn’t an ambitious signing then turns into a VDV to prove everyone wrong
The issue isn't really signing B-listers. It's:

1/ signing guys that don't have what it takes to make the jump & join the elite within one or two seasons (or ever)
2/ only shopping in that aisle

Can we trust our scouting geniuses to get it right...at least 8 times outta 10?

And can we trust our Supremo to bring in two or three diamonds to lead our supporting cast?

History doesn't really go in their favour...

Toney was pretty good the season before his big season. Just in terms of actual footballer stuff more than numbers. And he was staggeringly good in the championship.

Johnson's numbers at Forest were so-so, as you'd expect. His numbers at Brentford would also be so-so, he didn't do anything last season for Spurs which made you think that no matter where he played, he'd be keeping this up.

Toney would score and assist plenty for us. Richarlison has an incredibly basic profile and he managed it last season after turning up for basically one good run. We funnel lots of chances to the front three and get them in lots of 1v1 situations.

You have been pretty adamant when it comes to players you don't like that current form is all that matters

Is it Roman?

I was thinking Roman but not sure
Ange nose the German market as well as the Japanese market.
Is he in the Germany squad?

He’s meant to be absolute mustard.

Certainly looks like he can sniff out a good pass
