How Dry should our Powder be?

RBL are better than anything out of our top 5. Villa lost to Olympiacos. It’s very hard to judge though. Are the likes of Brighton,Palace,Everton or a Man Utd better than Frankfurt,Werder,Hoffenheim or Freiburg?

RBL starting 11 is better than any outside our top 5 ... most likely but I'd love to know what the average KMs run and sprint intensity is in their season vs Palace or Brighton for example. Also injuries.

I think it's easier to be RBL in Germany than it is for them to be RBL in the premier league where the non stop physical intensity means they probably have more injuries to their starting 11 and more games where players aren't at 100%.

Likewise the Brighton project in Germany might be able to consistently rival RBL because they have their starting 11 available and fresh more often.

RB are one of the top teams in Germany. Usually 3rd best after Bayern and Dortmund.

How would they get on in the prem? They would be in the mix for the top 8 probably.

The middle and lower prem teams are miles ahead of European equivalents, but the very top teams are mostly mismanaged or in transition.

City last year was the only team capable of competing in Europe. Woolwich arnt at the elite level yet. Pool are rebuilding. Chelsea, Spurs and United are mismanaged. The clubs are rich, but recently, they are below the level of Real, Bayern, PSG even Inter.

How long will the clown show go on at Spurs, United and Chelsea?

West Ham beat Freiburg three times alone last season (5-0 in one of them)

They also beat Olympiakos too.
I know mate, that’s why it’s hard to judge when you see Villa struggle against Olympiakos because Villa are a better side than West Ham.
Woolwich were by far the second best team and close to being first in the premier but lost to Bayern.
Its a debate that you can argue for both sides.

It's not that hard to judge. We have eyes. The quality across the Bundesliga is poor.

Woolwich getting knocked out to Bayern in a one off game doesn't tell me the Bundesliga is strong. It can however tell me Bayern would probably be competitive in this league which I've said they would.

Just like Coventry knocking Wolves out of the FA Cup and being a penalty away from knocking Man Utd out of the same competition doesn't tell me Coventry belong in the Premier League. The Championship is an entertaining league, but it's ultimately pretty low quality. As shown by the fact a team that got 100+ points last year got relegated pretty handily this year.

The Premier League is (maybe was) the deepest league. Outside Sheff UTD anyone can lose to anyone because every team has physical beasts that run at you and kick you for 90mins and the officials like to even the odds with the way they whistle things at times.

If you aren't physically up for it, the premier league will punish you. In pretty much every other league, there are >5 teams you can afford to relax and put your feet up because you will win anyway. Players often pad stats against these teams as well.

What the premier league isn't is technically or tactically the best league. I'd say Italy and Spain both have a higher % of technically good players but nowhere near as many athletes. Italy now and traditionally Germany have more athletes but still not on a level with the prem.

For me, this is why English teams struggle with the Europa League and domestic league. You have to put your strongest team out on Thursday night and then again on Sat/Sun in the league.
A lot of the French and Spanish upper teams in those comps pretty much rest their whole team in the league if they have a bottom 3rd team before or after a European game. Not many outside of City can afford to do that in the PL and not risk losing.

You have to be able to rotate at least 3-4 key positions

FBs and CMs that do most of the running. If we want a decent crack at the wafer cup and the Prem, we need 4 quality FB options and 6-8 starting quality CMs to rotate

I think we get away with LCB / CB due player and RB.

Gives cover like this for the back 4.

LB: Udogie / VDV / New hybrid player
LCB: VDV / New Hybrid Player
RCB: Romero / Dragusin / Phillips or Dorrington
RB: Porro / New

For the CM x 3, I think 6 quality + 1/2 youth

Bissouma / Bentancur / Maddison / Sarr / New / New + youth

Still, that is 4 new signings before we have touched the bigger problem of the front 3.

He's 28 and absolutely 100% on the decline in what should be his peak years, he's also nowhere near the level we require to move onwards as a club.

I do have fond memories, but overall he's already wasted his talent.
Your position on Dele relies on talent being some kind of resource a player can burn through. In fact, he has it and it's just about time being in the right set of conditions before age takes it away from him.

I think that is exactly the plan.

Murillo and Geetruida gives us 2 players that cover 4 positions.

Youth CM is Bergvall for sure so we will be:

Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison, Sarr, New (Morgan Gibbs-White), New (Gallagher) Bergvall.

That would give us 7 that are all good enough for Prem and Wafer Cup.

4 signings needed before we even tackle the forwards. I'll be honest, I can only see us signing one more forward at this point and it won't be enough. Last year the club left Ange short at CB, this summer it will be up front for sure.

One of those midfielders will be Bergvall. Then you hopefully sign someone like Eze (or MGW) who can play both centrally and in the front line.

With the other occupier and 7th choice being Tyrese Hall.

You only have to look at how low in the league West Ham finished when they went all the way compared to the season before and after when they went out by the KO stages.
Heck, even we perpetually failed to finish in the top 4 when playing in the Uefa cup, but then when we went out early we finally cracked top 4 under Redknapp. I remember everyone being angy we we went out of the Uefa Cup in the group stage, but it definitely played a huge part in us getting 4th that same season.

Are we actually trying to get a collection of Stickers that can't actually score goals?
There's two really important words in that headline.
Cut and price.

:levylol:

Levy is basically a woman.
Difference between men and women - A man would spend £2 on a £1 item that he really needs. A woman would spend £1 on a £2 item that she doesn't need because it's on sale.
