How Dry should our Powder be?

Williams = 40m buy plus 13m per year salary
Olise = 60m plus similar wages
Cunha = 40m? and half and maybe 8m per year in salary?

It isn't outside what the club can afford without selling any hotels. I wouldn't even buy Williams AND Olise. I'd be pretty happy with Williams and Cunha.
To be fair, that should be well within our financial capabilities. £140M nett spend, whilst our wage to revenue %age is something like 45%?

Why are we not in the mix for Olise?

I mean, we would need to spend more than that this summer because we need xx #8s to replace PEH and Lo Celso as well. And at least a RB to replace Emerson and even then maybe a RB that plays CB or a hybrid LB/LCB.

We can raise maybe:

Spence 6m
Emerson 20m
PEH 15m
GLC 12m
Skipp 15m
Rodon 15m

That's about 80m.

If we think the 90-100m net spend of last summer is what to expect, then we have 180m total outgoings to play with this summer. Really should be more if we really do want to challenge.

We have heard that reported on Williams but it could also end up possible. Bilbao will need to make something out of his sale and he won't screw the club over, same way Kane didn't screw us over.

His contract runs out in 2027.

If he doesn't get his Barca move this summer, he'll just stay another year and such is his loyalty will probably keep signing yearly contracts until he gets his dream move.

Only issue is Williams isn't coming to Spurs because he doesn't want to go anywhere but Barcelona and Olise would cost much more than 60m.
Maybe so, but the sentiment remains the same. The transfer outlay and wage demands are well within our structure to allow for us to get either them or players of similar stature.

Of course, you need to add in the caveat that they also need to be the right fit and character, but if we do scout players of that type, the fee and wages shouldn't really be an issue.

Yeah, I think Eze and someone like Kubo are much more realistic.

Though Kubo did sign a new deal in Feb until 2029 - so he may actually cost more than Eze anyway when you consider Sociedad got 70m euros for Isak.

Right.

Forget the actual names but the budget and quality of player should be achievable.

Look at our activity since Paratici arrived in 21/22

Gil - shit
Royal - meh
Spence - shit
Forster - not really up to more than the occasional game
Solomon - blatant opportunity
Veliz - stop kidding yourself. He was a punt and it's failing
Philips - will we ever find out?
Even Kulusevski. If he was £5m or £10m more (whatever we saved) he'd probably have been sent back to Juve

The problem is, we don't get it right when do or don't spend money too often.
We have the likes of Ndombele, Richarlison, Sissoko, Sanchez etc over the last decade that have been pretty terrible buys in the most p

Now rate my list

We'll see.

I reckon Williams would rather just stay at Bilbao than sign for anyone else other than Barcelona.

There's a reason Barcelona want to sell Raphinha and Ferran Torres.

He might do for sure. La Liga would prefer that too

But, unless the Saudi's come in AND Raphinha or Torres are willing to go there (unlikely) Barca aren't selling Raphinha or Torres any time soon. Getting players to go Saudi seems to be a real issue now. Seems they all hate it over there.

We're not going to bring in 6-7 players of that value in a single window, and expecting them to gel and challenge in their first season is a bit Unicorns and Rainbows.

My expectations would be 3 players of that higher quality, for midfield & frontline, with a couple of astute punts. All should be within our capabilities and not overly affect our future FFP wriggle room, particularly as we can expect our revenue to increase as well.

Other than Chelsea going mental over the last few windows, I can't recall anyone else topping a £200M nett spend in a single window, other than City last year.

If we bring in £80M, and spend £200M, that is easily within our capabilities, so 3 players in the £50-70M bracket, with a couple of £10-20M astute buys would be what I'd expect personally.
