All they have to do is sell Summerville to be fine for this year. And with plenty of suitors, they'll sell.
They have zero reason to sell Gray. They'll keep him another year and if he performs better than he did this past season, he'll have gained more experience and be worth much more.
He isn't interested in leaving and I honestly doubt Leeds are too interested in selling without fleecing some club for an extortionate price for yet another overrated teenager.
Any thoughts on the actual player, Kubo?
The worrying thing that there will probably be people queuing to to buy it …
The following is a bit off-topic : but it hopefully, illustrates and supports my point :
I was into scootering when I was younger ( still am to a degree) .
About 30 years ago « Scootering » magazine did an article informing readers that the Vespa company were going to sell a limited edition of compressed air canisters ; filled with air from their factory in Pontedera
( in Tuscany ) . The idea was that enthusiasts could inflate their Vespa’s tyres with genuine air from Pontedera ( a place revered by many TBF ) .
« Scootering « got a lot of enquiries regarding when the compressed air canisters would become available ; how many that would be made allocated to the UK / US markets etc.
The next month the magazine actually put out an apology / explanation…..the article had been included in their April edition …..

Archie Gray is a really talented 18 year old in the Championship and his club is interested in 2 of our players.
The two are very different.
FWIW Summerville might go but he won't raise everything they need. I think they need >100m in sales. Plus they need to spend to replace Summerville. A swap deal with Rodon and Skipp gets them 2 players that they want and need plus some pure profit coming in for an academy player. Not saying it happens but it does make some sense.
Kubo is fucking class, the Japanese market would be another bonus on top.
Just like Son and Korea. Kubo would probably end up the biggest star of Japanese football if he came here. If he was bad at football then it would be shit... but he's a little fucking wizard. Harry Redknapp would wax lyrical.
Swap deal does fuck all for them though If they need to raise money mate.
Especially when they can likely just get more money outright for him from other clubs who are supposedly interested without taking on even more wages of an extra player.
They need to raise money but they need to not spend the money they raise and they will need players to get promoted.
It won't be a swap deal, it will be 3 separate deals done at the same time:
Gray to Spurs - 40m pure profit, heavily loaded to up front now... let's say 15m first installment.
Skipp to Leeds - Loan with Obligation for 15m next year
Rodon to Leeds - 12m as agreed on their option but split over 5 years with minimal installments.
For their accounting this year when they need it, that is mustard. They sell Summerville as well but they need to spend some of that on replacing him and if clubs know they are desperate to sell, they get their pants pulled down. Do the Gray deal first and they can hold out a bit a play harder for the Summerville sale.

Toney to UTD makes much more sense for the way they play. They are a direct ball , counter attack team with old dudes. He will be good for them probably but also on massive wages.
Doubt we have ever been interested but that won't stop the meltdown when he goes there.
They will surely just do what we did with Southampton.... the PEH and Kyle walker-peters deal
I reckon any deal we do for Gray would see him go straight back on loan to Leeds for another year regardless.

Difference being Southampton needed to sell Hojberg as he had one year left on his deal and wanted to leave and we had KWP on loan at Southampton so it made sense.
Gray doesn't want to leave Leeds and has spoke about wanting to play alongside his brother for Leeds. His family are die hard Leeds so it'll take an astronomical fee to get him.
We all know our business model. And it doesn't equal splashing 40m+ on 18 year olds who don't start.
I doubt we are in for him either but I’d take him just to piss off our dogooder fans.

Not even saying we should do it but I've watched Leeds maybe 5 times randomly and he's definitely ready for the prem.
Logistically for the here and now, Geertruida makes more sense as the 2nd option RB that also covers LB and CB. Gray would still be a sensational signing. People get excited about Wharton and Mainoo but Gray is going to end up twice as good as either of them.

It's 3 years by 21 or the end of the season you turn 21 so he could still be CT if he moves this summer before the start of the season.

3 26/27 turns 21 List B
4 27/28 turns 22 Club trained (but can still go on List B)
5 28/29 turns 23 Club trained
