Haaland had less touches per min than Ederson and Ortega last season... FYI they play keeper

Actually a good point.

Although I reckon City are the only team who can get away with playing with someone like Haaland because they play with so much control and possession, that said they've really struggled sometimes to involve Haaland in the play and City have stunk when they can't get him into the game.

RE: us I don't think a hold up striker is as important as people are making out, due to the way we setup our wingers actually see more of the ball than our striker, that's where our moves break down more often than not.

bissouma wasnt the same after his red for being an idiot and maddison couldnt find his form again. it all went south after the chelsea game.

we all see things slightly differently which is the beauty of football. but i thought our wide players last year were absolutely dog shit and hurt us big time. serious lack of quality, couldnt keep the ball and play off the cuff or put decent balls in the box enough to cause some sort of danger.
Yes we need to hope Biss can maintain his form for longer this season or we're still fucked.

Unless one of Bergvall or Gray emerge as surprise shit hot 6's.

Agree re Werner, but can turn into great back up option, plus experience if we sign Doure. He can be exactly what Ange needs in dressing room. Players like that in every squad.

point is, if youre going to play richarlison at least use him properly. hes not berbatov or kane, hes a box threat who is a nightmare for defenders if youre actually giving him crosses to fight for. we dont put the ball in the box! we work it out wide and try and play cute stuff into the box and get close to the 6 yard box. we dont have the technicians to do that! the whole front 3 have to be silky and the midfield have to also be cute on the ball for this to happen.
Problem with that is that spamming crosses into the box is a very low % football and not conducive to dominating games, much as it might suit Richarlison.

Another point is that, in order to get the ball to your wingers in a dangerous position for them to deliver a cross you need good possession play, and for that you need a striker who can contribute with his back to goal. It's all linked.

You'll never guess where Darwin and Watkins rank for Pool and Villa respectfully.... or maybe you will.

Cheap. Good dribbling stats and assist numbers. Better back up option than Solomon and Gil. Frees up money to invest in other positions. Gives us time to find and bed in Son's long term replacement. Honestly don't get what the meltdown there is all about, he's a stopgap.

No meltdown is there, I just dont get the loan as it is expensive and he just isnt that good. If we bring in another left winger he isnt going to get games. Unless there is no plan to bring one in? I just cant handle Son at CF, the ball always comes back to the other side when it is played into him, he cant hold the ball up. Richy isnt that much better than him at it either.

If Gil and Solomon are still here come 1st September it will be even stranger. Let's see.

Werner is miles ahead of Gil.

Sorry I didn't mean you, more generally here. On the day we got Werner there was definitely some bed wetting here from the usual suspects.

As for his ability, here are his stats since he joined:

Not gonna pretend like he doesn't frustrate me but you're not gonna find much better for £7m next season or whatever it is he's costing us.

As for him getting games, we'll have 60 games next season. Son will presumably be first choice LW, he's now 32 and can't play each week. Even if we bring in a long term young LW Werner should get plenty of minutes and it takes pressure off whoever we bring in (Doue etc).
