Second highest net spend in the PL last season - I’d say Ange was backed.

Yes John - that includes the sale of Harry Kane.

I’ve told you this repeatedly but you keep repeating your lies. Why do you knowingly lie?
I’m relatively new to football (as I grew up on The Dodgers and baseball— does this make me 0.5 Boehly?) but my perhaps limited understanding is that the fees obtained from selling a player at one position (say, a CF) can be spent on players that play in different positions as long as you adhere to squad makeup rules and field eleven players (with only 1 GK) each match. A bit like trading a couple of outfielders for a pitcher. Is this correct?

Otherwise wouldn’t we have only had about 8m to spend on a CH after selling our Bambi-on-skates CH Dav last year and couldn’t have afforded Micky VdV? And not bought Johnson at all….. Just my understanding

I think we scored more goals last year than when we chased Leicester for the title and certainly more than a couple of our 4th place finishes. Scoring wasn’t the issue, being scored upon was and, IMHO, that’s down to very naive tactics as much as personnel and a post for another time perhaps.

If What Lies Beneath is Tier 2, may as well make all of us Tier 2 as well

I wouldn't laugh too hard.
I still think it's Eze and you can go whistle for a Kane replacement
:richlips:
(Looks like he can't whistle)
Cheers Matt. I'll continue to use my eyes and watch the games while you judge players based on a spreadsheet. Over reliance on stats is how we end up signing garbage like Brennan.
Neither of us sign players. Or have to make a case to the money men why they should give us tens of millions to spend and then pay them tens of millions more.
Chairmen outside of maybe a handful of ludicrously rich idiots are just throwing money at players based on a youtube clip anymore.

Even KDB had to make a stat pack to get his last contract at City. One of, if not the best midfielders in the PL era, who definitely passes the eye test.

177m Euros on Ange transfers in that summer.

149m Great British pounds.

As you say that includes Philips and Veliz who weren't first team signings.
Also includes making Kulu and Porro permanent, who were signed "for" Conte before Ange ever arrived.
No doubt those claiming Levy backed Ange will have used those 2 players to claim he backed Conte too.
Well that at least makes him a better human being than Campbell...

Don't like the fact he's Chelsea, but at least he GETS it! ...and you've kinda gotta respect him for that!

Campbell just thought he was bigger and better than the rivalry... and got it SO fucking wrong! (although I'm sure the trophies helped sweeten the pill!) CUNT!

If we signed Gallagher for 30-40m it would be nothing like Cuntballs.
He deliberately ran his contract down and refused to leave to go anywhere for any fee at all.
He then did the same to Arse, to Portsmouth, Woolwich again and Newcastle. The guy was and is a serial twat that sucks money out of clubs and then leaves them out of pocket at the end. He's a narcissistic cunt that deserves every ounce of hate and then some. I'm surprised the Arse fans didn't take exception to him lying his way out of his contract to go to Portsmouth on yet another free.

Gallagher just wants regular football and to be wanted. Chelsea need to sell him for the 100% profit.

I wouldn't have been happy if Campbell went to Arse for £20m at the time, but I'd have hated him much less if that's how he did it. £20m was probably market value for an elite CB back then.
