Actually amazed this got so many bites

No because he is a pressing demon. And whether it's the Portuguese league or not he got 43 goals in 50 games that's outrageous numbers. Falcao had similar before he moves to atletico. Some players just develop later. Would he improve us I think so and will certainly link up with son well I reckon. Solanke is slight upgrade on rich not a big one that changes us much
The Portuguese league is ranked lower than the Dutch league, probably on a par with the Championship. I fully expect that you're one of those who questions Gimenez because "he's only done it in Holland, so did Vincent Janssen."

I'm all for overpaying for the right player, but £80M to gamble on a player who's never played in a top league? That's ludicrous.

£65M for Solanke is overpaying, but I think he has a skillset that fits us like a glove, and he's fully Prem proven. £80M for Gyokeres is paying nigh on double what he's actually worth, making it a huge gamble.

The fact we are officially the 8th richest club in the world and spend less than West Ham is a pretty solid piece of evidence

So West Ham is some weird arbitrary barometer of money spent then, brilliant

What period are you talking about that we've spent less than West Ham by the way, do you mean this window? If so we've spent more than City who happen to be the richest club in the world so I don't know what kind of logic this is 😆

City already have a world class squad, we don’t

It’s a nonsensical argument, West Ham make nowhere near the money we do but are happy to spend to improve the squad

We buy kids we can sell at a profit if they hit the big time

If Levy/ENIC are refusing to spend money surely it directly affects transfers? It’s a legit place to talk about this stuff

I agree it can get grating but it’s part of the discussion
That’s a big IF.

I’d be delighted to see the evidence that led to that conclusion.

The immediate response will be “we haven’t signed anyone” but of course there could be MANY reasons for that but people with ZERO INSIGHT jump to the same old boring conclusion.
