ManU's squad isn't all that and gave 4,971 combined minutes (55 games equivalent) to six teenagers last season in the league, according to Transfermmarkt, with breakout star Kobbie Mainoo and pacy winger Alejandro Garnacho responsible for 91 per cent of this total (both players 19 or 20).

Given the performances of our youngsters in preseason, wouldn't surprise me if Ange didn't do something similar - those stats implying on average there is always one youngster playing 90 minutes in every game next season.

Plenty of youngsters to choose from with our academy lads Donley, Devine, Moore, Lankshear plus bought in youngsters Bergvall and Gray, so if anything I'd guess the minutes are spread amongst maybe 4 or 5 players rather than 2 players that ManU used.

And I wonder if the timing of Euros and Copa meant Spurs foresaw how few players were likely to move amongst top PL clubs, and always had the fall back plan of using more youngsters next season.

Times article coming to similar conclusions, coming from a slightly different point of view

How are you expecting us to buy a top level striker when we're hanging around Europa League?

All just depends on the aura that the club emits. Chelsea are in a mess but remain in the mix for osimhen.

Isak joined Newcastle when he knew they'd been bought by what seemed to be ambitious owners and his record was more proven than gyokeres.

If spurs were clear that they'll be doing everything to win a title there would be interest but it would be reliant on us paying a few players high wages

Surely that just shows growth and year on year improvement in the top flight?

19/20: 22 years old. 17 starts. 3 goals. 1 assist. Goal or assist every 411 minutes

22/23: 25 years old: 32 starts. 6 goals. 7 assists. Goal or assist every 221 minutes.

23/24: 26 years old: 37 starts. 19 goals. 3 assists. Goal or assist every 151 minutes.

Which also seems to coincide with Bournemouth also getting better. First year they got relegated. Second sesson got better as the year went on with O'Neil and then last season, much better with Iraola.

Which could also show that if you put Solanke in a better team, start him and play to his strengths, he'll score you goals.
It's still a punt, IMO.
Last season Richarlison 135 mins per goal and he got 4 assists.

Woolwich have been contending with 2 misfiring strikers over the last 2 season and Solanke is better than both, contending the league for us doesn't rely on a top striker, it relies on us having a good defence and Solanke is an excellent pressing striker who will help with that.

Regardless of that we don't need a striker with x factor in this team, fans are acting as if we need a Kane like player to score our goals we don't. Look at the bulk of Richy's goals last season, they were pretty much all tap ins or goals in the box apart from maybe 1...our striker just needs to be in the box and time his runs and hold the ball up, everything Solanke is good at.

I just think that people are letting their perception cloud their judgements because of the club he's coming from as opposed to looking at him for what he can do for us.

I agree to an extent, that's why I think prioritise an eze over a solanke.

If we get both then it'll be decent.

If we got osimhen plus eze, people would think this club has turned a corner.

For now, it really hasn't its just business as usual more of the same.

Isak was not seen as a "top level striker" when he joined Newcastle, he was coming off a terrible season at Real Sociedad and was seen as a massive gamble. Chelsea are in the mix for Osimhen cause he's been on the market for two years now without any takers.

Put it this way. If Woolwich were signing Solanke, the "Let's all laugh at gooners" thread would be seeing some pretty heavy traffic right now.

:harrylol:

LOL at people disagreeing with this :roflmao:

Honestly, the delusion on here is so, Sooooo' funny.

First, the tenuous links. Uninspiring , fucking piss poor levels of ambition . West Ham level.

The links get stronger. Actually , it kind of makes sense. Fits Anges system I suppose.

The move appears imminent. Fucking great signing if we pull it off. Exactly what we need to challenge Woolwich and City. Big up Daniel 💪

Honestly guys. I Fucking love this place :sonlol:

Was anyone who wants Solanke so badly for us now protesting when he wasn’t even in the England squad?

Fair point on isak. I remember Richard arlison saying at the time that isak was a very good player before Newcastle signed him so I was under the impression he had more of a track record than he did.

Do you follow my point though, if a club is sending signals that they're likely to prioritise winning titles then they can attract players above their current standing.

It's not beyind the realms of possibility if the purse strings are loosened.

Exactly this. Price tag, whilst not completely irrelevant, isn't an indicator of suitability, nor is his previous club. The only relevance is the skillset.

Gyokeres might have that skillset, but he's only been at Sporting for 1 season. Prior to that, his numbers in the Championship are comparable, even slightly inferior, to Solanke's.

There is no context applied to either player, just bedazzlement at the pricetag. Solanke might be a one season wonder, but the fact that he excelled in the Prem, last season, when Bournemouth adopted a playing style similar to our own, suggests that he would excel in our system, so overpaying for him is a much lesser gamble than it would be with Gyokeres, who's £20M more and totally unproven in any top league.

I feel that Solanke would fill his boots with us. Just think how Chelsea and Liverpool fans would feel if he did!

Osimhen is not moving due to the price Naples want - Chelsea cannot afford him due to ffp issues (although they are said to open to selling Naples Lukaku and loaning in Osimen with an option to buy - at a much reduced price- in order to get round ffp. But its an option to buy, not an obligation so Naples rightly concerned that Chelsea never exercise the option, which would leave them with an expensive Lukaku and no option other than a fire sale of Osimhen as they couldn't afford to keep both him and Lukaku).

IMO Naples will probably sell Osimhen but only in a year or two, hoping possible buying clubs have more money in the future. The player probably wants to move in but contract length gives him no leverage.
