Love Saturday night rant/debates in here clearly fueled by a pint or two. The truth is we’re fighting a losing battle and I think Levy realized it after Conte. Hire Ange, play the young lads, score goals, merchandise it all. We ain’t building to win titles we’re just building for sustained European football (and revenue).

Fair point on isak. I remember Richard arlison saying at the time that isak was a very good player before Newcastle signed him so I was under the impression he had more of a track record than he did.

Do you follow my point though, if a club is sending signals that they're likely to prioritise winning titles then they can attract players above their current standing.

It's not beyind the realms of possibility if the purse strings are loosened.
We've literally had our manager saying that his end game is titles and trophies. If that's not a "signal" then what is?

The reactions from our fan base? Delusion, arrogance and all the rest of that bollox.

Was anyone who wants Solanke so badly for us now protesting when he wasn’t even in the England squad?

Yeah actually

CBF to find it but was arguing that Southgate should take Solanke over Toney … and he should have. He’s a better player and Toney did nothing to earn it last year. Southgate also took zero healthy left footed defenders. I’m not sure his squad choices are the best way to judge footballers tbh. Unless you’d rather have Maguire than VDV?

Yeah but Richy is never fit.

For the price, it's absolutely a punt. Don't think many are debating that part tbh
This is what I don’t get. Doesn’t everyone realise any signing is a punt?

Stick with Rich and it’s a punt as he may not stay fit.

We took a punt on a top Spanish striker and he was shite.

The top goalscorer in Netherlands and he was shite.

A local lad who had a few mediocre loan spells and he became our record scorer.

Every signing is a punt. Not a single player is going to be a guaranteed success.

It's the middle of Sunday dude.

Really like the idea of Solanke, and as I’m not one of the clubs accountants, the figures aren’t really anything I’m concerned by. They never really are. Don’t care as long as it’s a player the manager wants and we get them in. If he’s £6.5m or £65m ultimately it doesn’t mean anything to me when I’m eating my morning coco pops.

I’ve never been celebrating a goal and thinking ‘but he really takes a chunk out the P&L Account’ 🤷‍♂️

Obviously season before last he had a lower goal return, but I’ve always been impressed by his link up play and strength and pace. I just like him, he’s really underrated in that aspect. Suspect because he plays for Bournemouth . . .

Quite intrigued by those that are writing off Solanke but grabbing their crusty socks from under the bed for Gyokeres. Hasn’t Solanke outscored him whenever they’ve been at the same level and since, arguably, Gyokeres has dropped a level from the Championship? Really shouldn’t sniff at 29 goals in the Championship during their promotion year, either!!
