This will get many disagrees but I’m not at all convinced Julian Alvarez is a better striker than Dominic Solanke in 2024. Obviously has great potential but I haven’t loved what I’ve seen from him. He's on astronomical wages as well and imo wouldn’t want to come here but that’s not even the point.

His physical presence is really poor, he don’t hold up the ball well, he can’t lead the line and also doesn’t play on the wing properly. His strengths align with a rich man’s Jermain Defoe
:angehug:

I’m just finding it hard to get my head around how despite our new DOF, our new “data driven approach to transfers” and all the bollox we’ve been fed, the man that Lange and co. appear to have landed on is…. 27 year old Dom Solanke, who’s had one good season in the PL, for 60 plus million, 2 weeks before the season starts… like seriously? Are people actually happy with this?

And let’s be real here, IF this transfer happens, it’s gonna be a last minute one, because between our frugality and Bournemouth (rightly) likely being very pissed we’ve come in for their most important player at this point in the window, strap in for an absolute shit show of excruciating brinkmanship. It has Saido Berahino in 2015 written all over it.

Like when we signed Richarlison, you would have done very well to find any Spurs fan that would have wanted Solanke before he was seriously linked, but now that it’s clear we actually do want him you have people coming from everywhere trying to defend it and justify it rather than calling it out for what it is.

I know a guy!

:ange-arms:

Sell him and get Solanke

Striker, dunno I've always liked Solanke

To be fair the Moore news isn't new.

Gold confirmed over a month ago that Moore signed a new deal, it just couldn't be confirmed until he turned 17.

Still, great new either way.

No one rates Romero outside of Spurs fans.

All my mates that support other sides don't have him in the VVD, Saliba, Gabriel bracket.

I think it's just because he's portrayed by media as a hatchet man. And Neville has an orgasm every time he makes a challenge.
I’ve honestly gotten to the point where I don’t even try and argue about our players anymore. I know none of them watch us enough to know and just buy into memes and nonsense on Twitter. Romero is the best CB we’ve had since King, his passing and touch is incredibly good, so it doesn’t really matter if anyone else knows it because I know it, for a fact.

It’s like why would you argue about a TV show with someone who hasn’t even seen it?

Quite convenient that the two players City are interested in, out of all the players in the world, are Eze and Neto.

The two players Spurs are pretty well known to be interested in. One would think this is agent talk to try and get Spurs to act upon the interest.

I would have to respectfully disagree.

I am absolutely convinced Alvarez would have been incredible for us. He is exactly who we should have been aiming for, give him the challenge of being our main man up front, our main striker, in Anges system, and I am sure he would have scored an absolute hat full.
He scored 19 goals for City last season, despite playing most of the season as a winger/attacking midfielder.

He is a striker that IMO would have been tailor made for Anges system, a pressing machine, technically very good, and his hold up play is not to be sniffed at either despite your reservations.
He would have been a signing that showed real ambition.

But alas, once again not to be. I’m actually disappointed he’s going to Atletico, as he’ll likely be used as a kind of workhorse number 10 by Simeone in the mould of Griezmann as opposed to fulfilling his potential as a striker.

He's not crazy at all, he's obviously insane!!!
