This is my view too. Nothing done so far is groundbreaking.

Therefore, expect similar outcomes to what we've seen in recent years.

If people are fine with challenging for 4th-6th, great. That's OK and all entitled to own view of where the club should be.

If people want more and are suggesting that everything is satisfactory, then they should not moan when we get results like last night because its just plain naivety. We had one new first 11 player last night off the back of poor form end of last season.

We could have used an Eze rather than a Werner or Johnson.
Eze does not play on the right.

Can't see it myself

He's 18 with about one appearance in Italian League - so negligible experience .

It would make sense to buy a new no 2 GK to replace Forster, but that would be someone with a season or more experience, and importantly to be 'happy' to sit on the bench waiting for Vicario to not be available or alternatively there's a deal for Vicario to play in most matches but the new no 2 plays in say EL matches or other identifiable set of matches. Might be any age, even aged 30 looking for a last opportunity to play for a top club.

FYI we've 2 GK's coming out of youth area atm who have potential - Keeley who had a great season at Barnet but is not HG, and 19 year old Gunter who is HG and played a bit in preseason, looking quite promising. So buying an 18 year old who needs experience might be long term planning but doesn't work as an upgrade on Forster who would need to be moved on due to limits on squad numbers

Gunter looks quality. We haven’t brought a keeper through since Ian Walker 😱

Also played in the french league the year before, probably has played more top flight games than Palmer did before signing for Chelsea.
Lennon played straight away as a 18 year old I think from Leeds.
Have to wait and see how he fits into the team hopefully next weekend

Definitely played more football than Palmer.

Have to take him on his merits and assume nothing because of his age. Was a shit ton more productive than Neto last year

We are banking on a 19 year old Frenchman with 1 season at a relegated Burnley side.

He may turn out to be great but it's hardly the gamechanging signing or backing of Ange that we all expected. Same old Levy.
Same could have been said about the signing of Bergvall (and probably was said by a few posters). Right now most of us would have him starting over pretty much every other MF. And he didn't even have any top 5 league experience, much less in the PL.

So just because someone is 19 means fuck all.

So...who's got the best depth at Striker?

Son, Solanke, Richy

Nunez, jota, salah, gakpo

Haaland, savinho

Jesus, havatz, Nelson

Rashford, hojlund,

Not sure our depth at striker is an issue.

It's the wide players. Odobert is the step in the right direction. But the depth beyond that for what we need from our widemen is lacking.

Even Moore isn't a 1 v 1 specialist - but he's intelligent unlike the majority we have.

If you compare those players Liverpool. Salah and Jota are class, Salah getting on a bit. Liverpool also have on paper quite a balanced attack.

Jota: CF
Salah: wide goalscorer
Nunez: worker

You’ve not listed these teams front 3 players correctly, not sure why you’re including Nelson for Woolwich and not saka martinelli trossard and not sure why savinho is there for city but not foden doku grealish..

But yeah it’s pretty obvious our attacking options are far worse than city Liverpool and Woolwich's

Eze does not play on the right.

Ok, how about an eze coming on to replace an underperforming Son or ineffective Sarr last night when we needed a goal against a low block? Eze finds avenues to create in these scenarios.

How about a kubo/raphinha/xavi simons/mbeumo/ or even jarred bowen attacking the left back rather than johnson who isn't particularly technical with the ball

Eze could even have been more of a threat off the right than either Johnson or werner and its not even his best position

Yeah I would've liked Eze, but he's not a player you keep on the bench. He'd basically need to start ahead of either Maddison or Son. You could make the case that Maddison deserves dropping based on last season, but he played really well vs Leicester.

Wouldn't call Salah a striker, Savinho isn't one and neither is Nelson

Think Liverpool have the best depth in that position and are clear of everyone here.

We don't need anyone

We can make do and mend

It will help bring a lovely wartime spirit to the club

All in together
But we bought in the fricking United States of America which added a lot of squad depth.

No way Levy would shell out for that now.

Maybe we could do some sort of false-flag operation to trigger him? Do a press release saying Spammers are building a creche and a greyhound kennel.

I've noticed those that shout the loudest in this thread haven't signed the petition, you know, actually try to change something. I mean, it's no wonder people don't like our club, loads of you don't appear to like it either lol

I am not against buying him but, as already mentioned, he would not be an 2nd choice option as he's only 18 and have one Seri A game for Fiorentina. - so this is clearly one for the future.

Tommaso Martinelli
Club:Fiorentina
Position: Goalkeeper
Born: 6 January 2006

There is some disagreement about who is the greatest goalkeeping prospect named Tommaso in Fiorentina’s academy system. Tommaso Vannucchi, born in 2007, has turned down interest from Paris St-Germain, but Martinelli, one year his senior, was the second-youngest player called up by the then Italy manager Roberto Mancini for a winter training camp aimed at assessing the country’s brightest young talents in December. An agile shot stopper who fills the goal at 1.93m, Martinelli has impressed with his distribution too and, after starting for Fiorentina’s under-20 side last season, now sits on the bench for the first team. We need a player in the middle of the park who can change games for us. A determined, Spiteful little warrior who won’t tolerate head loss like the 15ms last night. Ideally one with goals in them as well.

Bergvall and Gray look fantastic but we also need to protect them.

João Gomes noises continue on SpursCommunity. Quite probably bollocks, but someone in midfield to really add some grit and help shield the back four would be rather nice. I doubt we'd have lost our mojo like we did last night from the moment Leicester equalised.
