He was awful that game. However let’s not kid ourselves, his passing range from deep is superior to most defenders in world football, very very few on his level. He is also world class at defending when fit and motivated. He would be a monster next to Rudiger and he offers far better footballing skills than Rudiger so compliments him.
I fucking hope not.
We only need an extra couple of points this season to get 4th place and get that CL cash. I think we’ve strengthened enough to do that. It’ll take years to close the 25-30 point gap to become title challengers.
Hopefully we hit top four this season and give the cups a decent tilt. None of this playing reserves in the early rounds.
He isn’t really a holding midfielder, he is a box to box aggressive ball winner. He isn’t a sitting passer.

We are miles and miles away from the top 3, but a two point gap (when Villa have Europe to contend with too) is not insurmountable.
Whilst the first team has not improved a huge amount, I'm willing to bet we won't lose 12 league games this year.

Do you know our Chairman ? Romero’s contract runs until 2027 so unless Madrid come in with a huge offer, Cuti throw his toys out the pram to force a move or both … he’s going nowhere.
If Romero has a good season and Madrid are still interested - then next summer is when it will get “interesting”. Levy still won’t make it easy for Perez but with two years left on Romero’s contract … When Bale left in 2013, it was 2 years left on his deal.
But the reports could be rubbish - Romero is 26 and Perez has only been splashing out big transfer fees for young players lately so … in any case Dragu waiting in the wings.
He's been at Chelsea since he was 16 if my math is correct. So he should be homegrown.
Missed it by two points last season. First season without Kane. First season for a new manager. Loads of injury and suspension issues. Do you think we get less points this season? If you do, you must think we have a weaker team and squad than last season?
