How Dry should our Powder be?

Gomes (or his ilk) in for Sarr with Biss in at #6 is where it's at.

I'm a stuck record but our missing piece is a "busy cunt" ahead of Biss, need to stop these transitions against us, fix that issue and we have a platform within our risky system to build off.

For all the hate aimed at our forwards, we DO create a shit ton of chances, we've just made it better by adding Solanke (and have Richarlson in reserve). Solanke improves this end of the pitch with converting chances (a fit Richy is also a good chance finisher), Solanke with way better hold-up play and linking means we should also keep the ball higher up the pitch = less oppo transitions

Blakey - Out of interest can you overlay a comparison of Sarr and Gomes?

From my mate at the telegraph.

Real Madrid want Romero this window.

Let's see if he's on the bench at the weekend.
Ancelotti said they're done with transfers. Not that that should mean anything. Doubt we'd sell, though, unless they offer the £150m Levy quoted them. If that's the case, I'd take it and go after the most promising 22-23 year old out there. If this is the year that we bed in the youth, would make sense.

Might even have a go at Chalobah, who's a pretty good CB in his own right and is out of favor at Chelsea.

Absolutely love the Gray and Bergvall signings - they are both mustard but if we are relying on two 18 year olds, Biss and Bent to defend that back four in this open system for a season we are mental.

Said so many times like many others I am sure if we don't get a proper top drawer 6 and 2 better forwards this summer we will have a similar season to last year or worse.
Looks pretty likely but long term the picture is a lot brighter and we are transforming the squad. Its going to take a long time with so much youth and less experience.
I'm happy with the foundation but next summer has to be ruthless if we want to actually compete at the top.

We've basically cleared the deadwood so next summer will be about upgrading in key areas which means selling established figures to make space.

I reckon we move on 3 of the 6 below:
- Son, Johnson, Kulu, Biss, Bentancur, Richarlison

Aim should then be getting an elite 6 and elite RW (Leave LW for Odobert/Moore/Yang).
Outside of that I think we just need a backup keeper and LC/LCB to have a pretty well rounded squad.

Absolutely agree on part one of your post.

The fragility of potential is the assumption it is unaffected by paucity.

Bergvall and Gray are possibly players who will do well in the future No guarantees whatsoever. In fact less than more likely.

They willbe snapped-up if we are languishing for the next couole of years.

Those who are placing confidence and trust in Postecoglou are taking huge leaps of faith

Why a club of our size would take such a risk is beyond me.

Are you on the piss at the moment?

I don't think we will get another midfielder through the door, I think apart from out goings that's our business done.

This is what was posted yesterday on SC by one of their ITK-oracles

Right.....

Slight pinch of salt required here as I haven't had anything from this person before but I do know a coach from Wolves (happy to share behind the scenes).

He said we had been in contact re Gomes and the feeling from within Wolves is we will pay what Wolves are looking for (around £50m is internal rumours - add ons included). Apparently talks have been positive thus far and there is a feeling from both sides that a deal could be reached this week 🤞🏼.

He has no shame that Hotspur88… been outed as a complete fraud but continues to desperately make shit up in the hope something sticks. Even his total guesses are appalling. He has now posted again after POK confirmed Gomes not been approached:

“Really surprised to hear we apparently have no interest in Gomes. I trust the guy I know explicitly and so even if we aren't now pursuing a deal for him, he was absolutely adamant that we had been in contact with Wolves. Now, this may have been a while back and maybe he's just got hold of the info further down the line but he said we 100% have spoken to them about him. As always, only passing on in good faith”

He has got lots of likes and thanks for his pathetic back tracking. 🤣

Another transitional season, maybe we'll get lucky in a cup.

How long will Ange last? At this rate, I'm thinking until October.

Better pray Vicario and Udogie never get injured or suspended.

:pochshock:
Levy just HAS to stick with Ange this season and let the many recent/ new signings settle in, hiring and firing for 5+ years has been nothing but a disaster. Obviously the exception is if we're heading for a bottom half finish.

Whether the Board and the fans have the patience is another question.

At what cost?
At what point are things so bad he has to go?

You can't say relegation is fine.

So basically Gomes is a tackling machine. But can't really do much else?
