Match Super Cup Final - Spurs vs PSG, Weds 13th Aug, 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The eyes of the world on us - champion v champion.
It’s absurd that we haven’t strengthened the squad in the summer, and now we’re littered with the usual injuries.
It’s going to be a fucking cricket score.
We’re nowhere near ready to take on teams like this, or Bayern.
New manager, same constraints.
Kudus and Palhinha don’t move the needle for us to compete with the top 6, let alone established giants of Europe.
Smashing Pumpkins instead for me.
Not watching us get pumped. We’ve had loads of time (& no international tournaments) to get the squad organised for the challenges ahead.
We’ve limped along as usual, waiting til prices drop at the end of the window or claiming “we tried””

Sad thing is, this is the style of opponent we WILL be playing in the CL. Its criminal the lack of strengthening the club has done this transfer window.

Unfortunately we just can't keep the ball anywhere near well enough to hurt psg. Aside from the odd lone attack or a set pieces goal its probably going to be attack v defence for the entire game.
It really pisses me off to see how weak and feeble we have become, particularly going forwards.

Palace earlier had perfect tactics earlier under glasner and kind of we should use on wednesday. Exposed their left back a lot and went long to put them on back foot at the back. Last 20 it was all palace. Might not be pretty tactics but with limitations can be done.

Not seen the Pumpkins since 94. What a band back in the day. I think the smashing Pumpkins will be a better option come Wednesday mate 😂😂😂

One thing we can do is try and destabilise them as much as possible, like chelscum did.

Press all over the park and never allow them to relax.

This could get very ugly.

Our only hope is to survive the initial 30 min onslaught and then hope our superior fitness (on paper) starts to tell as the game goes on.

In reality I see them picking us apart at will and us being shit in possession like the Bayern game and playing hoofball to no one.

Vic
Porro - Romero - VDV - Spence
Palhinha
Bentancur - Sarr
Kudus - Richy - Odobert
Team picks itself outside of Odobert or Tel. Unless Frank sticks Danso in and goes 3 ATB in full parking the bus mode.

Where has Solanke gone btw? Another crock.

Lineup looks about right but id like bergvall in there in place of sarr.
Not a popular opinion but I think he offers a little more in ball retention and being able to supply the front players.

Assuming Udogie and Solanke won't be fit to start so...

Vicario
Porro Romero VDV Spence
Palinha Bentancur
Kudus Sarr Tel
Johnson

I'd honestly go Brennan up top with Tel on the left. Let them interchange during the game. The only chance we have of beating them is by counter attacking so I'd just go with that. I think richarlison will just be a waist of a player in this game as he'll just get no service and be giving away stupid fouls out of frustration. Brennan has a weird nack of scoring big goals in big games so I'd just put on him up top. That front 3 can be fluid and interchange. We'll probably have 20% of possession so it'll be about just getting them 3 on the counter ASAP once we turn them over.

I don't give us a prayer tbh but think thats the best we can do. I'd honestly be tempted to drop Palinnha for Danso and do a back 5 but because we didn't try it all pre season I think it makes sense to just try this 4-2-3-1 formation which in reality will be a 4-3-3 all game as we'll be out of possession most of the time with the 3 lads being the only outlets. Sarr will end up pinned back with the other 2 midfielders.

My big play here is to just not start richarlison. He'd be a waist. He'd get no service and doesn't have the pace of the others to offer much on the counter.
