Assuming Udogie and Solanke won't be fit to start so...

Vicario
Porro Romero VDV Spence
Palinha Bentancur
Kudus Sarr Tel
Johnson

I'd honestly go Brennan up top with Tel on the left. Let them interchange during the game. The only chance we have of beating them is by counter attacking so I'd just go with that. I think richarlison will just be a waist of a player in this game as he'll just get no service and be giving away stupid fouls out of frustration. Brennan has a weird nack of scoring big goals in big games so I'd just put on him up top. That front 3 can be fluid and interchange. We'll probably have 20% of possession so it'll be about just getting them 3 on the counter ASAP once we turn them over.

I don't give us a prayer tbh but think thats the best we can do. I'd honestly be tempted to drop Palinnha for Danso and do a back 5 but because we didn't try it all pre season I think it makes sense to just try this 4-2-3-1 formation which in reality will be a 4-3-3 all game as we'll be out of possession most of the time with the 3 lads being the only outlets. Sarr will end up pinned back with the other 2 midfielders.

My big play here is to just not start richarlison. He'd be a waist. He'd get no service and doesn't have the pace of the others to offer much on the counter.

The very difficult truth right now is that we need to show faith and start Richarlison and Tel so that they have a chance to catch a spark and restore their form.

The other difficult truth is that we are going to get absolutely smoked this game.

I'd go with this instead:
Tel - Richy - Kudus
Biss - Pahl - Sarr
Djed - VdV - Rom - PP

Let Biss and Sarr roam the midfield; counter down either side and look for switches over the top to play the opposite winger in. Biss and Gray as sub 8s later on to keep up the press. Johnson and Odobert on later to keep fresh wingers/runners available.

That's not much of course but that's the only way I can see us doing them, if it were even possible. Might be that they throw the game too and play kids vs us but can't really see it happening given how weak the French league is.

I don't think we can get away with back 3 against them- they utterly destroyed Inter in the CL final and we are nowhere close to them as a back 3 side.

We shouldn't worry too much about this game though- it's not really important to our season and Levy and co have not put us in a position to reasonably think we can compete in it. That's a damn shame and it's completely on them, not Frank or the team.

We were far too open against Bayern.
I'd be happy to show more steel and resilience here.
Don't really care about the result, but be nice if it isn't another whopping.
