Anderson has to start though for the balance he brings. Personally I’d rather drop Rice for Bellingham rather than Anderson.

You have to play Anderson he is the only deep lying playmaker, an actual DM, modern football generally requires them for any success. Rice is better further forward, Bellingham can also play as AM so you could easily see the below.

Kane
Rashford Bellingham Saka
Anderson Rice

I think that would be the best selection, but Tuchel will likely start Gordon over Rashford for his extra work rate and pressing. Could also play Rogers from the left so you could then select both him and Bellingham, instead of one or the other. Only issue with that is Rogers would come inside a lot, as Foden used to in that position.

Rashford, Gordon, Rogers. Left wing is very well covered.

Baddiel is unhappy Djed was picked.

It’s a horrible squad he’s put around Harry Kane, truly. He has taken all personality and creativity out of the team and they will suffer badly. They are legitimately not even top 5 in World Cup favourites.

James, Livramento, O'Reilly, Spence, Konsa, Guehi, Stones, Quansah, Burn; Rice, Anderson, Henderson, Mainoo, Bellingham, Rogers, Eze; Saka, Madueke
Rashford, Gordon; Toney, kane, Watkins

Just look at that. Outside of Kane looks like a never-ending list of Brentford style players.

It all comes back to Tuchel’s original sin: he has misprofiled Jude Bellingham as the midfield star of this team, when in reality Bellingham is the most overrated player in all of world football. He has traded all his passers and creators : Trent, Wharton, Palmer, Gibbs-White, etc. for runners, and put all the creative burden on his “number 10” in Bellingham. Jude has inferior passing range and buildup play to most top RBs, legitimately Pedro Porto, Joao Cancelo, Trent, and Reece James possess better passing instincts and buildup contributions than Bellingham, who is a runner at best.

Look back at 2016 England losing to Iceland at the Euros for a glimpse of what Bellingham ball will bring England. Frustrating draws, extra time, and ultimately an early knockout loss to an inferior team as they had no one to pick the lock. That will be Bellingham and Tuchel’s legacy.

I just think they wilt under the pressure and the PL is so competitive it’s hard to get going again. Basically the usual excuses! 😂😂😂
We played 4 of the weakest teams in qualifying...I'm waiting to see what we've got against serious competition...I feel for me, anyway it's difficult to have a valid opinion based on what I've seen so far...I have both hope and reservations...

He hasn't put the creative burden on Jude, there's question marks whether he is going to start him. He is using Kane to being his creative outlet, managers never pick no10s to play with Kane because they take up the same spaces on the pitch and Kane wants everything to go through him hence why you don't need Palmer, Foden etc...

We are going to be functional so spectacular, we aren't going to get bums off seats but so what Tuchel isn't being judged on that, he's being judged on whether he can win the tournament. That's it.

This is shite. It’s two starting Man City defenders, Konsa who is one of the best centre backs in the league and easily CL quality, James who is the league’s best right back, and Pickford in goal who has been a reliable top 4-5 league keeper for years.

Rice is literally a dominant cm who is headed for back to back CL teams of the year, will win PL team of the year, and if Woolwich win the CL may win a Ballon d’or. Next to Anderson who will likely make a 80-100m move to Man City in the summer.

You have Bellingham who starts for REAL MADRID in the 10, a man who since surgery has massively picked up for them. Your characterisation of him is insane. It just seems like you don’t like his profile when in reality he is absolutely one of the best midfielders in the world.

Rashford a Barcelona regular this season off the left with an extremely impressive g/a ratio, the best CF in the world up top, and Saka off the right.

What is “Brentford” about any of this? It’s a team of trophy winners playing at the very highest level. Tuchel wants a very physical, direct team, like Woolwich. You might hate this football but we’ve seen it can be successful.

Profiling a guy who scored 23 and assisted 12 for Real Madrid the season before last as a “runner at best” just oozes bias and agenda. He was La liga player of the season, CL team of the season, ballon d or shortlist. Give it a fucking rest with the hyperbole!

He’s absurdly hard working, with a knack for clutch moments, brilliant ball carrier, solid passing range, excellent finisher, very good feet, brilliant at crashing in to the box.. go talk to Madrid fans and they’ll tell you he’s been carrying their midfield for a while now.

We have world class players, a very physical and direct side and a CL winning manager and all some fans wanna do is moan because Burn is in instead of Maguire and the oh so technical and worthless for England Foden got left behind.

Good post.

Tuchel wants a tall, physical team to bully sides and to work off set pieces and counters. He wants legs round Kane & a midfield which smothers teams. His selections fit this mould perfectly.

We are not the most talented squad in the world. We do have a lot of talent, but France, Spain, Portugal etc have more technicians. If we try to play their way, we will not win.

Tuchel’s not building around any one player - he wants a team. Which is what England have been crying out for, a manager who picks for a plan and not for names.

I can see Bellingham having a cracking tournament btw. He’s gone from too much hype to being underrated due to a positional change and surgery at Madrid. He’s world class and vs Bayern in that second leg was practically a one man midfield.

Enjoy July when we’re 1-0 down and Deccers, Jude, and Kane are wilting in the heat with zero big chances created in the entire match. In that moment we will have to bring on a game changer. Tuchel will scan the bench: Burn, no, Spence, no, Konsa, no, Hendo? No. Onto the attackers; Gordon, Morgan Rogers, no, not enough space. I’ve got it! Noni Madueke!

When Nonzino is the man chosen to come change the game and save the country, in that exact moment you’ll understand why everything I’ve just written is true.

I can’t wait for us to have yet another good tournament and for you to be wrong. Of course if the bar is “win the tournament” for success then you’ll probably claim being right .. as if every team that doesnt win the World Cup were terrible.

Physicality, speed, set pieces are what English football beats everyone else at right now. We’ve got two massive fullbacks who are also excellent, three fucking units who can also ball out in midfield, a proper CF who also happens to have feet made of silk.. we’ll be fine.

The tactic in the games you describe will be to not concede, drag teams in to the muck, and grab a set piece. We didn’t concede a single goal in qualifying.

Again, characterising Jude as someone who can’t do big things in big games .. what planet you on mate? Why would two of the fittest players on the planet “wilt in the heat” more than any of anyone else’s players?
