consistent with previous reports

Means Simons out until November/December and misses almost the first half of the season

Haha ffs. If we go down Xavi's one we easily could've sold or loaned to get most/all of his salary covered. His injury now instantly costs us about 5-6 million quid next season before he even kicks a ball. Lovely.

If he's not got a salary reduction makes you wonder if these clowns didn't get one for Gallagher either, even taking into account our horrific form under Frank.

Yeah probably Kudus and Gallagher, still could be worse.

Think we will have to loan out Gallagher and cover some wages and fuck knows what's happening to Xavi and Kudus since they're both fucked for at least the first part of the season, who's gonna touch them after long term injuries?

Think this is why it's essential we give De Zerbi what he wants and he's allowed to start building something serious even if we go down. If we're stuck with these injured guys that clearly want to be elsewhere, you need an inspiring manager to keep the dressing room dynamic strong.

I think there's a world where we go down and when some of these players come back from injury a manager like De Zerbi can actually keep them somewhat invested and sell them a dream. Or at the very least stop things getting toxic behind the scenes before they're sold/loaned.

If you end up with some Championship-level manager that the players don't respect then you can end up with a bit of a Leicester situation where you've got loads of overpaid big egos that either consciously or subconsciously aren't giving 100% and things get progressively more and more rotten.

And yeah I reckon the Xavi injury makes selling/loaning Gallagher more likely. Thought he might stay before but there's only so many players on top wages we can keep, surely.

Was thinking the other day that all this talk about our pitch being the problem is really bad.
Not that I thin it is the pitch, but if this story gains traction, it's going to be a major turn off for players coming to the club in the future.
Who's going to want to play on a cursed pitch? Even if it's a total fallacy, players aren't going to take the risk.

Just mental. Surely it's just too varied and freakish to be blamed on one thing. Like, even if there is some iota of truth in the 'stadium pitch' conspiracy theory, can you seriously blame that on Maddison and Xavi's ACLs at different grounds and Kudus' re-injury in training after months of being nowhere near the stadium?

My guess is it's some bizarre combination of a ton of factors - a bit like how our horrific season isn't down to 1 specific thing. Some mix of the v.intensive calendar, lots of internationals, dodgy medical dept, and just plain old shitty luck.

Probably doesn't help that we've changed managers and styles so drastically too. Going from Ange's intense sprints, to Franks heavy focus on duels and second balls, to Tudor's hard running, and now intensive on-the-ball work under De Zerbi.

Compared to most clubs we are fairly unique in that we're both regularly in Europe and have a squad stocked with full internationals but also completely dysfunctional and changing managers and styles every five minutes. Most teams are either one or the other and there's some degree of consistency.

I know I’m probably slipping into X-Files territory here ; but maybe it’s something to do with all those state of the art facilities at Hotspur Way ( where possibly corners were cut on the budget ) .

Indoor Carpet ( and sometimes Outdoor Carpet ) was the next big thing for pro tennis back in the 1970’s ; but ended up getting banned (literally ) because so many players sustained injuries ( especially knee injuries) on it . The players refused to use it ; for the sake of their health .
